Truffle Beefy Shrooms Great burger, enjoyed it a lot. Simple plating with fries. Very value for money only with 1 for 1 mains price. Nothing too extraordinary, but nothing to complain about either.

Soft Shell Crab Pasta Will definitely recommend the soft shell crab pasta as the portion of soft shell crab is a lot. Very hearty meal, pasta portion is adequate to make you filling. Very value for money with 1 for 1.

Coconut Lychee Cooler / Pineapple Orange Tango The Coconut Lychee Cooler falls short with an artificial-tasting coconut syrup that overpowers its homemade lychee juice and sparkling water. Meanwhile, the Pineapple Orange Tango is refreshing, perfectly balanced with pineapple juice, orange wedges and a fizzy ginger ale twist.

Chips de Canela Served warm, the crispy flour tortillas were coated in cinnamon sugar and paired with vanilla ice cream, chocolate hazelnut sauce, and fresh fruits. But sadly, the flavours didn’t quite come together. The tortilla was overwhelmingly dominant and despite all the toppings, I found it hard to taste much else and I ended up not finishing it 》$16

Angel Hair Pasta ($16.90 before Burpple Beyond 1-for-1) As for our 2nd main, we went with their angel hair pasta which featured truffle and ikura. We enjoyed this more than the buta mayonnaise. The pasta was al dente and the truffle notes was nutty and earthy without being overwhelming. Portion though was a little on the small side and ikura was also a little on the more side and was closer to ebiko than ikura!

Buta Mayonnaise ($16.90 before Burpple Beyond 1-for-1) Miss K and I were feeling peckish after spending most of Saturday in the office and were in the mood for an early dinner. A quick search of our options on #BurppleBeyond led us to Yakizen, a homely quiet izakaya located right smack in the heart of the CBD along Circular Road. Their 1-for-1 mains options is rather limited. We decided to check out the intriguing buta mayonnaise which featured pan-fried pork belly with mayonnaise. To be honest, this dish turned out better than expected as the rich creamy mayonnaise paired surprisingly well with the savoury teriyaki sauce. It did get a little too cloy towards the end as we did not pair it with rice. The portions though was rather small and at $16.90++ would be rather overpriced without the #BurppleBeyond deal.

Coco Barra Lemak ($24) Coconut‑scented rice served with grilled sambal barramundi, achar, peanuts, anchovies, and tempura egg. Weekend Menu Only. Rice was a little mushy, moist and sticky, but got the lemaky flavour. Tempura egg had a crisp fritter outer with flowy yolk inner, the execution on point like those served in Japanese tempura shops. Fish carried the local sambal seafood vibe, meaty and slightly moist, spread with a beautiful sambal layer. Achar added colour, peanuts and anchovies rounded out the staple sides.

Seafood Laska Pesto Spaghetti ($23) Spaghetti with crab meat, asari clams, king prawns, fish cake, and dried shrimp laksa paste. Weekend Menu Only. Slurpy, rich, bold, savoury and umami noodles. Aromatic flavours coated every strand. Prawns were bouncy, clams given in generous portion adding oceanic sweetness, crab meat for brininess, fish cake for local laksa feel, and of course hae bee hiam laksa paste for true local spicy kick. Damn shiok!

Fritto Misto Basket ($22) A basket of deep‑fried snacks: soft shell crab, school prawns, silver fish, octopus tentacles, and homemade sesame chilli sauce. Weekend Menu Only. Crispy fritters that make a good bite for the itchy mouth. Oil tasted clean, no funky smell, elevated with curry leaves and chilli padi. Texture was chewy inside, crispy outside. Best dipped in the sauce, otherwise fried food can feel one‑dimensional.

Good ice cream Premium flavours @ $5.20 with burpple beyond deal. We got hokkaido strawberry milk and apple yakult, flavours that are less found in other places. The former was mild and creamy, while the latter was a bit sour but refreshing. The serving was generous and enjoyable.

Double Scoop Besides the photo-worthy neon signs, Icebar offers a limited selection of gelatos with unique flavours. They are also open late till 2AM on Fridays to Sundays for you to get some late-night ice cream. The gelato here is priced at $4.20 for a classic scoop, $5.20 for premium, $6.20 for super premium flavours and additional scoops for $3.70. I went with their recommended flavour of grape Yakult (premium) which was supposed to be light on the palate while Binggrae banana (premium) for something milky. The grape Yakult flavour feels light with a very faint grape Yakult flavour. I would love it if they add more grape Yakult into it. The Binggrae banana was creamy and milky, something expectable and not too far off from the actual beverage. Thanks to Burpple Beyond, we get to enjoy 2 Scoops for the price of 1 ✌ (U.P $5.20/scoop)

Worst steak | Avoid Poorly executed steak - ordered a medium but steak doneness was more like medium-rare (service staff / boss couldn't even tell which was the medium steak when we asked - he probably didn't even note to cook this as a medium?) Steak was also tough and chewy, definitely one of the poorer steaks around. Truffles fries had no truffle taste, and mashed potato had a weird texture. Was also told we couldn't use burpple but staff eventually relented when we shared that the app allows it. Was a terrible piece of steak and not worth the calories imo (not even a 1for1 deal will make it platable). Will not return. + saw that the shop has drastically shrank / downsized from its previous 2 storefronts to its small shop now, the quality and attitude of the shop owner is probably the reason why. ++ saw two poor souls who walked in after us and were misled into believing that burpple wasn't available for redemption when it clearly was. And then was sold into paying for a Wagyu flight meal.

6 for $27 with Burpple Beyond Love their eclairs!

Actual Burpple Offer Differed From The Description Thought it was "3 Eclairs for 3 Eclairs" (which was how it was like previously when I used it last year), but apparently they've an agreement with Burpple that said that it will be $33 (for a total of 6 eclairs). Though it's still slightly cheaper than the original price for 6, I still felt a bit cheated cos this was not stated anywhere. They should have stated this somewhere that it's no longer 3 for 3, but a box of 6 for $33. Apart from this, the eclairs tasted fresher and better than the previous time that I bought them.

eclairs pistachio was the best, followed by the salted caramel. strawberry was quite good too

Pretty good food with a view! Never thought I would get good food from a themed cafe, but @actioncitycafe proved otherwise! The Flamed Kissed Grilled Steak ($24) was all in all pretty spectacular. Although the beef steak turned out cooked beyond the requested medium rare, it was surprisingly very tender and juicy. The knife cut through it really pretty easily! The herb butter on top made it even better by providing additional richness and garlic umami. However, I do hope that there was more of the beef flavour. Nonetheless, it was a pretty amazing steak! The Healthy Toasted Medley ($24) was equivalent to your full English breakfast but healthier, and it was pretty good too! The sourdough was well buttered and toasted without being too hard and the eggs were quite well cooked. Coffee here was also pretty decent! The Iced Latte ($6) was pretty fragrant and not acidic at all. The Iced Mocha ($7) was not too sweet and I could tell that quality chocolate was used. Definitely will be back 🥳
