Came down to celebrate a birthday, making use of the 32% voucher. Reservation on the app was fuss free, and food came quickly.
Crispy Prawn Roll ($13.30) - Meaty, crispy, and we appreciated the bite-sized portions. Though I would appreciate some crunch from carrots or water chestnuts.
Braised Tofu and Prawn ($17.80) - Tofu was firm, prawns were crisp, and sauce was delicious. Would've gone great with rice.
Poached Chinese Spinach ($16.80) - Delicious, but the taste of the salted egg and century egg was slightly muted.
Prawn Broth Beehoon ($14.30) - Big-sized prawns, but the taste was slightly lacking. Though it was much better after reheating the leftovers the next day for some reason.
Sliced Beef Horfun ($13.30) - pretty normal and the beef was overly chewy. Can skip this.
Lemongrass Jelly ($3.90) and Mango Sago ($5.90) - Decent desserts but you'll find better elsewhere.
Overall, enjoyed the meal especially with the multitude of Paradise vouchers given.
One of the more affordable restaurants at MBS, and I thought the food we got was pretty value for money. The Chicken Ball Pho ($13.80) was decent, with big-sized chunky and meaty meatballs. Broth was nice and made even better with the lime and sriracha. The Seafood Fried Rice ($14.50) was also surprisingly good, with chunks of prawn and squid in flavourful fried rice. We also appreciated the chilli options provided which gave a nice spicy kick.
Went for the 50% off Ribbonfish stew on Thursdays which is insane value for money!! The entire pot of fish, mussels, abalone, scallops, prawns, and even octopus costs only $44?? Crazy crazy good!! We also had the Seafood Pancake ($16) which is delicious as usual, and the Pork Suyuk Sotbap ($14) which was nice but think can skip. Banchan and ice cream for each guests is also very much appreciated! Definitely one of my go-to joints for delicious and affordable korean food. Will be back!
Very popular eatery with apparently a long history. Saw that almost every table had the wonton mee, so of course I had to try it myself. Noodles were thicker than typical which gave it a more satisfying bite, and I thought the sauce they were mixed in was delicious. Charsiew leaned on the meatier side which was not my preference but it was good too. Overall, not the best I've had but a pretty delicious bowl all the same! We also had a damn good plate of sambal sweet potato leaves, as well as the hokkien mee and claypot chicken rice which were good. A satisfying comfort meal!
love their variety of flavours, especially the yuzu. Their waffles are good too!
They're having their 13th anniversary promotion right now (ends 21 Sep) so make your way down to catch it now!!! Enjoy the Half Slab Baby Back Ribs (Served with Hickory Sauce, French Fries & Purple Slaw), Morgan’s Rib Sandwich (Served with French Fries), Honey Drizzled Riblets, and Summer Citrus Pitcher, each one for just $13!! We had the ribs and sandwich and both were so so good! Honestly don't think I've tried Morganfield's before but this was an amazing first experience and I think I'll definitely be back!
Really long wait for this popular restaurant (and questionable seating arrangements) but the food more than made up for it. First of all, GET THE SEAFOOD PANCAKE IT'S SO GOOD, thick and delicious and chockful of seafood bits, probably will return just to have this again it's THAT good. Also got the BBQ Set A which had generous portions of meat good for 3 pax, but we're terrible at grilling so I think next time we'll just get the pre-grilled platter instead! Japchye was alright and abalone porridge was pretty interesting, and we appreciated the free flow barley tea, banchan, lettuce, and garlic/green chilli for the grill. Overall, if I was in the area and the queue is manageable, would return.
Tried the Half chicken Noodles, Big rib bone noodles, pork bone spicy noodles, and kimchi pancake. Noodles were all around thick, robust, and nicely chewy. Perfect with the different variations of broth, ranging from the lighter chicken broth to the more intense pork bone broth. The meat portion was also really generous, though do be prepared for a tad bit of messy eating (though they thankfully provided disposable gloves). The accompanying sides of kimchi, pickled radish, and barley rice was also welcome. As for the kimchi pancake, it was decent but we've had better elsewhere so just get it if you're craving it!
They're having a 1 for 1 Brunch promo now serving up brunch classics from croissants to bangers & eggs, to laksa and chicken rice, and many more! Can refer to their website for the full list, and while I felt that the variety was just alright, the quality was up there. Most of the dishes were hits, and we especially loved the laksa, sausage, snapper, and kueh pie tee. Though, do note not too load up on so much carbs and juices like us, because I think we were already bursting after one round of everything! Very worth it while the promo is running, and the ambience of the restaurant is really nice too!
[Quandoo 1 for 1 Pasta Wednesdays]
Book a reservation though Quandoo on Wednesdays to enjoy 1 for 1 for the pastas! We had the Squid Ink Spaghetti Vongole ($26) and the Miso Flavoured Risotto ($20). Both were decent though slightly too one-dimensional in flavour. The squid ink pasta could really use some freshness, perhaps in the form of tomatoes to brighten up the dish. The risotto was al dente but was pretty heavy in taste, and I did not appreciate the edamame which made chewing a little more effortful - think mushrooms could be added to give a deeper umami note to round off the dish. Also got a glass of margherita ($10) but the alcohol content was so lacking in this.
Overall, vibes were nice but the food left much to be desired. Perhaps their starters and sharing platters would have fared better but I'm not in a hurry to return.
Wide range of flavours available and you can try flavours (up to two) too! We got the waffle with a scoop of pistachio. While the waffle was slightly burnt, the pistachio ice cream more than made up for it - thick, creamy, and rich, this is easily one of the better pistachio flavours in town! Though I wished there were some drizzles to go with the waffles because it was a little too dry. Do head to the back of the store for more seats!
Moon Moon what happened?? Wehn I tried the Chilli Pepper Chicken Soup at Taipei, I was positively swooning and raving about it to everyone throughout my trip. But in SG? Terribly bland!! Tasted no sweetness from the cabbage, no tinge of spice from the chilli pepper, just a dull chicken taste that I wouldn't be able to differentiate from my homemade chicken cube stock! I was so disappointed after the first sip. Won't ever return. And the price is such a turn-off for the average quality of food.
