Tucked in the nooks of HDB block in Bishan is this charming little cafe. I like the meringue waffles that is a refreshing change from the usual buttermilk waffles. We had double scoop ice cream - roasted matcha and earl grey, both had very strong flavors and complemented each other. The only complaint is that the ice cream could be slightly smoother, otherwise, a very chill and nice place to hang out.
Was here for lunch but what really got me each time here were the desserts. Love the texture of the cheesecake that was not to heavy and dense, instead you get light but creamy cheesecake covered with roasted nuts for a nutty crunch.
Other than their potted plant specialties, we also tried their rainbow cake. Love the bright happy colors of their rainbow cake. Soft and moist layers of sponge cake with a thin layer of cream cheese butter cream that was not too sweet. 🌈
These really cute Bingsu, disguised as potted plants, are just too pretty to pass! That aside, the red bean Bingsu with malt ice cream and soy bean powder was pretty good, without being too sweet, The only complaint was that the shaved ice could be slightly finer.
Back at Rollie Ollie for dinner and this time I tried the sunkissed salmon. Think crabmeat, avocado and cucumber sushi roll with aburi salmon, a dollop of mentaiko and spiced roe. It's not only yummy but also pretty to look at! For an additional $1, you can throw in green tea or soup!
So happy to have found a new lunch place at Buona Vista area! Tried their Dos Amigos (grilled eel, cream cheese, and avocado) and Caterpillar (crab meat, cucumber, avocado) from their Signature Rolls and Crispy Shrimp (Skinny Roll) and they were all good! Especially love the Skinny Roll options for those who are watching their weight and would like less carbs! Would definitely be back to try other items in their menu.
Back to Chir Chir for the second time and this time we decided to try their a la carte fried chicken. We settled for the garlicky fried chicken - love the crispy on the outside but tender on the inside chicken. The fried garlic, chili and sliced almonds gave additional kick to it. Portion is good for 3 - 4 persons.
Finally succumbed to the Korean Bingsu craze that is taking up SG. Was contemplating between Nunsaram and O'ma Spoon but the former had a 45mins waiting time! Service was much quicker at O'ma Spoon and we settled for the classic injeolmi Bingsu that comes with fine shaved milk ice, nuts, condensed milk, soybean powder and rice cakes. Tasted very much like the ones I tried in Seoul and definitely a good alternative to ice cream during the hot season!
When you're in Osaka, strolling along Shinsaibashi, don't forget to drop by Maison de Gigi for a short snack! Lovely buttery and soft Belgian waffles with 4 different flavors to choose from - original, almond, chocolate and maple. They also have seasonal flavors depending on when you're visiting. Best eaten directly when it's still warm! 😁
One of the most popular street snack in Osaka is their deep fried skewers. Literally everything you can imagine can be deep fried and served to you here, at pretty affordable prices too. Personal favorites are the deep fried prawn and cheese. There is also a sweet sauce dipping but wasn't such a big fan of it.
A rather new dish at Group Therapy is the waffles with vanilla bean and chocolate ice cream, honeycomb and salted egg yolk. The waffles were rather dense instead of the fluffy type. Interesting combination with the decadent salted egg yolk, but the waffles were better off without.
Buttery croissant with back bacon, 2 sunny side ups and one bratwurst sausage. Simple yet satisfying and a good change from the usual thick toast.
