!!!!! a vvv short walk from lavender mrt, this unassuming restaurant was such a pleasant dining location! the ribeye ($28++) was perfectly medium rare with the right amount of seasoning, leaving a very juicy & flavourful bite each time! the smoked duck breast hard a firm bite without any of the duck gamey-ness ($28++). both were served atop a bed of mash potatoes & asparagus! we enjoyed the tropical fantasy mocktail ($9++) & but found the fly me to the moon mocktail ($9++) a little too sweet for us. would 100% come back again! service was so great & polite too. total bill was $43.55 after burpple 1 for 1
was craving indian food so we decided to try out manam as it was near my dad's office. a little hesitant at first because we were afraid that the food would be too westernized/commercialised but it turned out to be extremely mouthwatering and tantalizing! the mutton biryani ($24+) used good quality basmati grains that were fluffy & not dry, and the mutton was only very slightly gamey! as a non-mutton eater, i thoroughly enjoyed the flavour & went back for more. the butter chicken ($20+) was decently portioned and the sauce was just so flavourful. would order with garlic naan when i go back again ๐คญ highly recommend!! great service by anitha too ๐ซถ๐ป the interior of the restaurant is dimly lit & gave off mbs hotel restaurant vibes so that is ๐๐๐ so happy to have found this
didn't have high expectations for this place but we were pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the food! we ordered one duck noodle soup ($8.90+) (bun) & one pho bo (beef pho) ($8.90+). the noodles were simple but tasted just like the ones we had in vietnam. we also ordered a kampung chicken ($24.90+) that isn't included in the burpple beyond menu but that really impressed us! the chicken was well charred yet retained its juiciness and tenderness. highly recommend the chicken! the viet coffee was alright ($3.50+). would come back again even without the promo!
very well decorated cafe & cosy environment but had no one when we reached around 5pm. had their thai milk tea crepe cake & vanilla strawberry crepe cake for a total of $8 after 1 for 1 discount. the crepe cakes were flavoured mildly but the thai milk tea sauce helped to enhance the milk tea flavours so we enjoyed the cakes. it was a distance from bugis mrt station so we're on the fence whether we would purposely go back there again.
too pricey for the tiny portions given. $25 nett for both but bowls were so small ๐ญ great service though! they sell their dons + miso soup at $15 so seems like a little bit of an ingenuine deal to be selling 2 for $25 on burpple
exceeded our expectations for food from a bar but was not objectively outstanding. my friend who ordered a pork katsu don ($12.90++) felt that for this price (discounted), she would rather spend that money on toriQ & that she was unlikely to revisit. i ordered the saba don ($10.90++) and found the food decently yummy & would return. the rice was slightly crunchy with tobiko and furikake, the egg was ramen egg with a jammy yolk. the pork katsu was kind of dry with no sauce on top or at the side. total bill was $15.10 post discount.
w burpple beyond, we spent a total of $87 for a pork schnitzel ($32++) that came with a choice of a side, pork knuckle ($42++) that came with sides, bradwurst ($22++), mac & cheese ($21++) that came with sides. recommend to make a reservation in advance because the place was PACKED even on a weekday night. pork knuckle was good as expected, crispy skin that had the fragrance of deep fried pork lard. we found the meat had a littttle porky smell but it was still tasty. there was q a thick layer of fat under the pork skin but it came off easily. the schnitzel was essentially a fanciful pork chop but it was still tender and enjoyable nonetheless. the bradwurst was abit disappointing with the meat texture being a little bit powdery (???) and not so QQ. the mac&cheese was quite good, but the smell of cheese is pretty strong. great for groups, big portions, they allowed us to take the items to go. great service by alan!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZED ๐ซถ๐ป our bellies r soo happy rn!!! ordered the spicy & fragrant chicken pot & had a one for one house special chicken (black sauce, a little sweet). both pots were $25.80++ before discount for regular sized. spice level also customizable for both - none, mild, medium, high. we ordered non-spicy for the house special & medium spicy for the spicy & fragrant pots. would say their spice level accurately matches what one wld expect a ไธญ่พฃ to be. they were generous w the chicken (v tender)! flavours were super bomb. we requested our add ons (side dishes) to be put separately so we could do it hotpot style too.
UPDATE: returned 3 weeks later and suddenly the price of their pots became $32.80++???? that is a $7 inflation... food quality & quantity is still there but for this big a price jump, it's kinda off-putting & the pot is only worth if you have burpple one for one and even then you could probably find cheaper options that are just as good around ๐ซ ๐ซ ๐ซ
the chicken roulade ($22++) was the star of the evening for us! it was perfectly seasoned & tender, with abit of charred bits that gave it a good bite/crunch. the garlic mash under the chicken was absolutely mouthwatering too. 10/10 would go back for it. the xo baby ribs ($25++) however were rly dry & disappointing. was def a miss & a waste of money but we would be back to try the pasta & perhaps order the chicken roulade again! worth only with burpple beyond.
had yas army stew & soft tofu stew, 2 melonas & 2 ayatakas for $17.40! the army stew was a little bit of a letdown as the meats inside were kind of artificial & the "spam" was just thinly sliced, tasteless ham. still, the soup was warm & hearty, and pretty decently flavourful despite its ingredients. however, i would have thought it would come with cheese as it's army stew but it didn't. the soft tofu stew was good & quite tasteful. they ran out of drink options so we only had ayataka. loved the service though!
was a little hard to find this cafe because it is located in the little nooks of tampines but it was one of the most aesthetic cafes i've been to! really like a glasshouse & the aircon was cold & comfy, great for a hot day like today. the waffle was super crispy and fluffy, and it was also flavourful - rly impressed. the ice cream not so much, we got the pistachio & arabica coffee, both of which had rather mild (& a little inaccurate for the coffee) flavours. spent $21.30 including 2 drinks that we paid for in full ($5.90 for the matcha latte, $6.40 for the hazelnut latte) as they're not included under the burpple 1 for 1. the price of the waffle + 2 scoops of ice cream was $9 nett post-discount. would totally be back for the waffles again but would try other ice cream flavours.
bought their tiramisu ($4.80) & earl grey basque burnt cheesecake ($6) to try. after discount was $6 nett. the tiramisu was pretty good imo but it was a little lacking in the sponge part & alcohol so it felt a little too innocent. the cheesecake was rather disappointing - the tea flavour was so mild, it was barely there & the cake was like any other regular cheesecake (not flowy/oozy like one would expect a basque burnt to be). the top of the cheesecake was also kinda hard because it was too chilled i guess? but basically it felt like an overnight cake. the slice was also quite small in comparison to starbucks/coffee bean that sell their cakes at the same rate - but with burpple beyond, i don't really have any complaints about the price. would i come back again? probably not intentionally, but if i were to pass by & i was craving some dessert, i wouldn't mind getting the tiramisu again.
