Ah Chiang’s porridge just opened at JEM. Was excited to try it as we loved the one at Tiong Bahru.
Porridge was good, though I felt the one at Tiong Bahru is richer in taste. Seating area is quite small though.
This is a good alternative as it is in an aircon environment compared to the one at Tiong Bahru. :)
Wow, their noodles are indeed good. Springy and bouncy.
However, Tom yum taste wasn’t as strong and it tasted more like normal chilli. I will suggest the wanton mee instead which my partner had.
It might seem like normal toasted sandwich to begin with, but the jaffles offered here are packed with flavour! Ordered the Fun Guy and Nice to Meat You and both were great dishes with many ingredients in them.
Sunday afternoon was packed (maybe cos of the Churches nearby). Will suggest to go on weekdays instead when it isn’t so packed.
Not my first time here on a Friday popular lunch spot, so I reserved a table beforehand. Had the signature fried fish with thick bee hoon soup as usual, where the fish was a sinful delight! 😝 Fried to a golden brown shade and separated from the soup, the piping hot fish is not something we usually get for other fish soups outside. Remember to reserve the chocolate fudge cake (dessert for set meal) when you order, as it is quick to run out during lunch!
One of the most worth-it Burpple Beyond Deals! The cakes here are to die for! The chocolate cake is rich and creamy, but the signature Yuzu Raspberry is the highlight of the show.
Fluffy sponge cake with slightly sour yuzu cream balances so well! Raspberry flavour is very refreshing as well!
The Lychee Oolong tea was great too! Helped to wash down the cake so that you won’t feel too sinful after dessert!
Indeed cake heaven!
This has to be one of the best roasted pork I ever had! Truly legit place with great food! Even the nonya chap chye is wonderfully cooked with great flavour.
Do head down if you wish to satisfy your cravings for roasted pork or char siew!
Generous serving of chips and well battered and fried fish!
Pricing wise might be on the higher end though. Will only suggest the place if you are in dire need of fish and chips. :)
Hidden in the midst of the industrial area is a great place to chill! We discovered this cafe while on the bus.
The ambience of the place was great, and it was full of people on a weekend.
We had the coffee with a slice of cake, which was delicious!
Time to start travelling around to discover more of such places!
Stumbled upon this cafe when another was full and what a great find this is! The 3-Tier brioche though simple, was very hearty. They were very generous with the avocado👍You also have a choice of poached or scrambled eggs 🥚🥚 Will come back again.
I just don’t get why there’s a queue for the place? Maybe they are all first timers like me?
Anyway, queued for a short while during dinner time. Was kind of excited for it, but the ipad which we were supposed to order from was flat on battery. The staff helped to take our order manually. However after around 20 to 30 minutes of waiting, with customers after us getting their food, we asked about our order which they have forgotten. Indeed, they did rush the order out in the next 10 minutes but the experience was also spoilt.
I had the dried version which was one of the recommendation but it was more like a soba variation then ramen, with a dipping sauce which was quite salty. The soup version which my other half had was just a bland ramen which had some taste of yuzu, but nothing amazing.
Personally, service aside, the food might be slightly interesting due to the yuzu flavour on your first try but nothing amazing after awhile. Wouldn’t recommend you to queue for it. But you could give it a try if it’s empty.
Sigh. The disappointment.
Great place for the CBD folks to chill and catch up with friends after a long day of work. Food was great, with snacks to go well with your drinks.
The Norwegian Salmon was a perfect medium, well seasoned and complemented by the zucchini noodles. Great stuff! Even their pasta was cooked al dente.
Come chill with your friends!
Eggs Benedict was disappointing. Poached eggs were overcooked the yolks were hard. The guacamole serving could also be more generous. Overall, the dish was bland. Service was also rushed the waitresses served all mains and drinks to the wrong person (We dined in a group of 4). For the price, Wild Honey upstairs is a much better choice for brunch!
