Probably the most iconic item served here - fresh, rich, and creamy uni wrapped in a seaweed bundle and tempura fried. So crispy on the outside yet soft and gooey on the inside. I always wonder how they manage to prepare this without overcoming the uni since it is so delicate! This is heaven in a bite 🤤 FYI, the flavored salts that I mentioned in the previous post are pictured in the background - 👵🏻 #burpple #throwback
Starting off the tempura courses with the classic prawn, it was battered and fried on the spot in front of us. The prawn was fresh while the batter was light, delectable and crispy. I also like how they don't waste the prawn's head and it certainly does make a crispy snack when fried properly 😋Their tempura courses are all meant to be complemented by the standard daikon tempura sauce, as well as by the flavored salts available at the table in front of you (matcha, curry, spicy salts). The flavored salts were definitely something different and I never thought that they would go so well with tempura - 👵🏻 #burpple #throwback
I always enjoy having a nice salad included in a course meal as it's a good palate cleanser. This one was colorful and tasty, with the dressing adding both tanginess and saltiness to the dish at the same time. Really love the crispy lotus chips as well - 👵🏻 #burpple #throwback
In an earlier post, I expressed my love for firefly squid but acknowledged that its taste may be too fishy for some. In this rendition, served with blanched greens and a sweet white miso sauce, the taste of the squid was complimented and balanced out nicely. Since 👴🏻 doesn't take squid, he had a fish version of the dish instead which was equally as yummy 😋- 👵🏻 #burpple #throwback
Situated in The Regent Singapore, Tenshin brings Japanese tempura to a whole new level. It is Singapore's first restaurant to specialize in Japanese tempura brought from Japan. No doubt a pricey meal, but the quality of ingredients you get and dining experience are one of a kind as chefs prepare the tempura fresh in front of you. Starting off with a cold appetizer, this tofu (probably blended with fish liver, served with soy sauce and wasabi) definitely whetted up our appetites for the courses to follow - 👵🏻 #burpple #throwback
😭 This is Lor Mee from the famous stall in Tiong Bahru Market. Always good but the portions seem to be getting smaller 🙁- 👵🏻 #burpple #throwback
Smoked Duck Pasta tasted like it was sautéed in garlic oil while the other two were as they read: Chilli Cream and Tom Yum based. For those who enjoy Tom Yum but are not able to take anything too spicy, beware! It was on the slightly spicier side. Nonetheless, the dishes tasted great and judging by how 2 of us (my brother and I) finished everything we ordered, it's worth the visit! Go before it gets too popular! - 👴🏻 #burpple

So pretty looking and a great balance between all the different textures and flavors. This version tasted alright (and we detected the fragrance of cooking wine?) but again was a little too salty for our liking 😟We also found the portion to be a little small for a $10-priced vegetable. Or perhaps because we consider the rest of the portions at Dai Lou to be 👍🏻👍🏻 and therefore the unavoidable comparison 😂- 👵🏻 #burpple #throwback
So fragrant after just a simple rub and steaming with a plethora of Chinese herbs. Warm and comforting ☺️ Mother's cooking are usually the best 👍🏻 What are your favorite home-cooked dishes by your mothers? 🤗- 👵🏻 #burpple #throwback
I had been looking forward to trying this for the longest time but after reading multiple mixed reviews online, I did lower my expectations before trying it out. However, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I liked it more than I thought i would. Maybe because this was "my kind" of ramen or maybe because I've yet to try the original in Japan. I generally prefer lighter tasting ramen unlike 👴🏻 who loves his thick tonkotsu broth. I ordered their specialty shoyu ramen and opted to have all the extra ingredients as I was starving 🐷The ramen noodles that they had here were made of wheat flour and felt like a mix of ramen and soba to me and I love soba. The shoyu soup was nice and wasn't as salty as I expected it to be. The ajitama egg was done beautifully and omg that runny yolk 😍 I was also afraid that the char siu would be tough since it is lean meat but was surprised by its tenderness. I also added a yuzu wonton to try and the yuzu fragrance really shone through. Of course, the truffle purée lifted the whole bowl of ramen when mixed into the soup. I personally enjoyed the ramen at Tsuta so I guess the experience really does differ between each individual 🤗- 👵🏻 #burpple #throwback
🍱🍣 Look at that amount of goodness! Especially my favorite uni and ikura! 🤤 I've posted a lot about Sushi Jiro in the past and they've recently moved to Marina Mandarin Hotel! Where are your favorite places to get Kaisen Don or Chirashi Don? 😋- 👵🏻 #burpple #throwback
