Although Chilli Padi is actually better known as a Food Caterer, their in-house buffet is not one to sneer at! To be frank, the quality and taste of the food were way above standard catering, or any regular buffets at this price-point. Not only were the dishes of authentic peranakan flavour, even their furniture screams nonya! Must go back soon. 😁😁😁 - 👴🏻 #burpple
This is the dry version of Hokkien mee as well. 👵🏻 enjoyed it but I didn't, probably because I was expecting more since it's apparently pretty well-reviewed by others. My mum did enjoy it though and that says something! Where do YOU get your Hokkien mee fix? - 👴🏻 #burpple
Going for the commonly recommended places around, we were so thrilled that we recorded story after story. 😅 anyway, coming back to Singapore, Hoon Heng Fried Sotong Hokkien Mee is actually one of the food places recommended in the Michelin guide so I decided to try it one afternoon! After my favourite chwee kuays of course. This Hokkien mee, like the one in my previous post, is served drier with minimal 'chup'. It was tasty but slightly lacking in wok hei. Heh, what a better way to find food recommendations ya? From one good food to another. 😁 the fried Hokkien mee at Choon Hiang has slightly more beehoon than usual so it actually feels less starchy compared to other Hokkien mee, perfect for small eaters! I had both the carrot cake and the Hokkien mee to myself. 🤣😋 the Hokkien mee served here is the dry variant but rest assured! It's dry because the stock has sufficiently been absorbed into the noodles and beehoon, giving it its flavour! The lack of prawns and sotong here is because of my allergy to seafood but I enjoyed it nonetheless! - 👴🏻 #burpple
Patronise another stall in the same row and ask the stall owner there. Ideally, the stall owner should be an old uncle or old auntie who looks like someone with trustworthy taste buds. 😁😁 that's how I arrived with the decision of trying their white carrot cake and man, it was the perfect decision. Strong wok hei, slightly charred eggs to give it some crisp and fluffy soft radish. My friends who pinched a little from my plate went to buy a plate for themselves after their meal! It's that good! 😂 this dish is one of crispy-fried poultry that's copiously coated with cereal flakes in perfect harmony with regular mayonnaise. The ingredients were portioned to near-perfection but as much as it was palatable, it's not the best I've had even though I am not sensitive enough to tell what's amiss, so let's just leave it at that. Not our first time trying Tony Roma's but it was out first trying their onion loaf. Am sure glad we ordered this to try because portions were vastly generous, onions fresh and batter not extensively greasy. The preparation felt identical to those of Japanese tempura - light and not overly gelat frying! Was tasty enough to be consumed on its own too, no need for any condiments! - 👴🏻 #burpple

The quality, freshness, and taste of the food at Genki is decent - not horrible but not fantastic either. In general, we enjoy their "flavored" sushi a lot more than their traditional nigiri as the added sauces and flavor combinations does help to make up for the lack in quality and provide for a fun sushi dining experience - 👵🏻 #burpple
