Had 2 tacos each via 1-1 and we had to say, this is a refreshing take to the usual food that we had!
Barnacoa Pork - A slow-braised sweet & spicy shredded pork shoulder served w/ cilantro, onion and their own vatos hot sauce. Taste and feel like a Mexican while munching on it. The hot sauce when tasted on your tongue tingles with each munch yet the cilantro cools down the hot sauce that tingles.
Chimichurri Chicken - Spicy chicken w/ sweet tangy chimichurri salsa, lettuce, cilantro lime cream & mexican cheese. This is definitely the refreshing of the 2 types we had, must not be missed! Its oomph with light & the ingredients meld together in crunch! We thoroughly enjoy this over the pork albeit the pork stands well on its own too!
Mexican Soda taste like coke and sprite LOL
Be prepared to get messy but its a mess that's worth the mess!
Bring along your partner/friends and enjoy the food & chill environment. They serve alcohol as well.
Will be back for more. Kudos~
Great ice cream in the neighbourhood! Will return! 👍
Double Up Potato and Chicken soup was great! Great deal with Burrple Beyond! Will return! 👍
Back at this lovely place for the westie to enjoy Japanese food at affordable-midrange pricing.
Fyi they having Hokkaido Oyster fair now. Read below!
Cravings for Japanese food and lazy to travel further than JE, I decided to come back to this fail-proof location.
Had a list of goodies naming:
Salmon bellies sashimi $5.80, Kaki(oyster) fried $13.80, Tonkotsu Karamiso Ramen $13.80, Wagyu Sukiyaki $24.80
Alas those sashimi is a wonder, thick succulent cuts - top grade feel. Each mouthful is a joy to behold which made us regret not ordering that kaisen don ~$39 as the neighbour beside us has a huge bowl to himself.
Nevertheless, wagyu sukiyaki was great, though I would prefer a thicker cut for mouthfeel texture! Ramen was spicy. I meant the soup but warms the soul on a cold rainy day.
Lastly, tried the fried oyster for a change and was pleasantly surprised. 4 pieces filled with the gooey whole hokkaido oyster in each piece. Dipped with the mixed mayonnaise sauce and it levels up the texture and substance to the overall kaki fried. Its delectable and juicy, if not for my pocket restraint I would have order another serving!
Btw they do have the premium hotpot at $100nett for free flow wagyu/queen crab or you could go for $70nett for a given set which I believe the former offer will be a good deal. Have yet to try but its on my wishlist.
Nestled nearby our SG UNESCO heritage site and chanced upon this nifty hangout place.
Before 6pm and you get Killiney kopitiam food like fishball noodle and comes night it turns into a bar, so let's talk about food!
Cajun roasted chicken leg: nice charred roasted chicken leg and comes with salad and fries. Personally finds the chicken worth the money compare to pasta. Its moist on the inside as well. Slightly oily on the base though.
Aglio olio: Definitely smaller portion. I could order another portion if not for the extreme long wait for our food when its actually quite empty there with us the only one ordering food. Taste wise, its average to me. Added bits of bacon at $2 and they don't add any element of touch to tastebud. Disappointed with this dish.
Sticky date & toffee pudding: Good but we find it too sweet
Dirty mantou: Fried mantou but pairing with condensed milk, its still for the sweet tooth. We prefer dipping fried mantou into chili crab sauce instead.
Overall, had an average meal albeit comes with a quiet scene and nice ambient good for dates looking to chill out and chit chat or anyone looking to try their brews.
High point: service is attentive and serves you with their patience and smiles. Brightens up your day.
Low point: Food serves extremely slow. We were the only one ordering food and it still took like eternity (almost 20mins before the mains is ready) and another 15mins (with prompting) for desserts to be served. If you don't mind the wait with your date, I guess it works. But probably not for us who went in starving and have to wait even longer.
Shackburger $9.20
Cheese fries $5.90
Float $7.80
$22.90 for this individual choice
Burger was just mediocre, fries were looking good with the thick cut but tasted normal. It gets elevated by the cheese which you can choose to separate it or pre-mixed in it for you. Which is good if you are sharing with friends and they don't eat cheese. Hefty amount of cheese left after finishing those fries too.
At this price, I could get better tasty burgers elsewhere without the crazy queue and wait time.
Not worth the hype. Maybe I could try it overseas in future but not the current ones here.
As per title, its simply chocolate. Every mouthful is filled with creamy goodness of the chocolate which is not that simple to make but simple to eat, that even kids would enjoy.
Waffles was a tad average at best, firm but lack of crispyness which I much fancy
Overall still a good hangout place.
Cost: $7.80
Personal Ratings: 4/5
Great pork stew! But beware of the spicy level!
$14.90 + $1.00 for soba/udon.
Mixed tendon of chicken tender, prawns, mushroom, long beans, sweet potatoes, seaweed.
Flavours were on point, had spicy level of 1 & 2 but both felt the same to us.
As a carnivore, I would definitely prefer chicken & prawns, albeit the rest was good as well. Like sweet potatoes and mushrooms taste sweet on each bite.
Affordable price and with burpple 1-1, making it even more worth it.
Typical standard, average meal but huge portion especially on rice department. Cost $8.90, its worth the price when going with beyond 1-1
With burpple beyond, this is a tendon worth the repetitive visit. Even without, it will not burn a hole in your pocket yet it keeps your stomach satisfied
Fish and chips worth returning for! 👍 Skip the pie.
