I tried the regular sized Signature (pictured), Sea Salt, Liquid Gold Caramel (~$8 each) and mini tart in pistachio and hazelnut (~$3-4 each).
The chocolate used is high quality, itâs smooth, deep and doesnât have the artificial sweet taste the cheap chocolates do.
The taste of the dark are generally on the dark chocolate end, but if you like it sweet, the liquid gold has a liquid caramel layer. The tart base itself has a mellow chocolate taste.
Nicest when ths tarts given some time out of the fridge, else it might be quite a jaw breaking effort trying to bite of a piece.
*Note: my taste palate leans towards dark bitter chocolate at a sweet spot of 65%-72% cocoa. So please use that as a gauge of my taste perspective.
Lola (left) for me was a disappointment. At $11.80, it tasted flat and lifeless for a chocolate sponge-layered cake.
Pure Chocolate (right) was a chocolate mousse encased in a dark chocolate cream. This is a good cake with a rich but not jer-lat feeling, hallmarks of a good balanced chocolate mousse cake. At $11.80, itâll a tad painful on the wallet. But good quality comes at a price.

Between the Nicholas Bittersweet Chocolate Cake, pictured at the top (4inch @ $32) and the Big Daddy Cupcake ($3.80), the cake & muffin were both of the same chocolate cake base.
Taste-wise:
- Big Daddy has a predominant Nutella taste
- Nicholas Cake is taste more chocolate and less sweet
Neither really wowed. But If you like your cakes/cupcake moist, this is an acceptable cake. The shop also advertises that part of their proceeds goes toward a good cause.

These slices Original ($7.80) and dark ($8.80) are successive layers of sponge and truffle cake melded together, and with a sifted cocoa powder top layer.
I usually like my chocolate dark (~65-70%), so the milk chocolate version was on the sweet side. The dark chocolate slice was slightly better in taste through it probably wouldnât meet the chocolatey standard to cure PMS.
So for the price and taste, the ROI satisfaction: 65%
...I felt like I was eating pasta bolognese.
A good fishball noodles shouldnât have to hide underneath excessive and heavily coated sauce.
Unfortunately, this fishball Meekia noodles ($5.50) was.
6 fishballs were nice and bouncy, but no to the over-sauced, clumpy mee kia noodles.
Decadent dessert that is sinfully indulgent & satisfying. Must order if you are a die hard chocolate lover!
Not served in the usual ramekin but instead in an eye catching shiny silver pot; melted dark chocolate is poured into the soufflé, letting the light sponge absorb all that chocolatey goodness, followed by a dollop of crÚme fraßche and topped with a scoop of rich and dense Gianduja Chocolate Gelato, then drizzled with more melted dark chocolate to finish!
Love how the hot melted dark chocolate flows deeper into the sponge when you dig into the moist pillowy centre, fusing together with the delicate crĂšme fraĂźche which balances the dessert by softening the richness from the Gianduja Chocolate Gelato.
We ordered their touted signature Chilli crab ($38; approx 300-400g?).
Depending on which group you fall into about how the Chilli crab should be prepared, as the poll pictured shows weâre divided. Lesson here: If you fall into the group that enjoys your Chilli crab steamed and tossed in the sauce (like I do), this is going to be sooooooo disappointing. The fried crab and tossed later in sauce makes the meat soggy and makes me wonder just how fresh is the crab?
We enjoyed the salted egg yolk chicken ($14), hot plate tofu ($8) and sambal Kailan ($9).
Thereâs no aircon nor washrooms in the restaurant, so a little letdown on a hot summer night eating fried crabs.
Unique Orhnee Tarts ($1.20) thatâs comes with ginkgo nuts, very crumbly tart shells and wallet friendly than buying straight from teochew restaurants. The other popular Cheese Tarts ($1.20) also gets quickly sold out by 12noon. So call on the dayâs morning to reserve if youâre in dire craving of it.
The chocolate chip muffins ($1.20) were a let down: like a wolf in sheepâs clothing as shown in the picture.
