Had this after the freshly made sourdough pizzas at Plank Sourdough Pizza opened by Global Baker Dean Brettschneider who owns Baker & Cook. A quiet hidden gem in Siglap area, great for meals or for sipping a cup of coffee with a book.

The vegetables dishes were spectacular for me though the meats could be more tender. The corn & almond soup was surprisingly delicious, so were the desserts!

Hand making these rice balls is time consuming. It brings me back to my childhood when I make these at home with my grandma.

There are two stalls that I know of, one at Smith Street and the other is this one from Beach Road.
With the usual flavours of red bean, black sesame and peanut as well as new interesting ones like matcha and yam paste.

Only $2.30 for 5 of these soft delicious rice balls in a sweet peanut soup.

The curry looked a tad too oily at first impression but it actually added a silkiness to the rich and sweet mushroomy Japanese curry.

The Katsu was crispy with tender pork meat, absolutely delicious when dipped in that curry and with a spoonful of the Japanese rice.

Just the right amount of truffle oil in the soy-base kaisendon seasoning adds a layer of complexity, accentuating the original umami-ness with the seductive aromas and flavours of truffle.

For fans of truffle this is just divine. Made my Monday less blue for sure. Hope everyone is having a great start to the week!

Need to call ahead to reserve table as well as the dish.

Really loved the beautifully braised juicy (and fat!) duck slices as well as the pork belly though favourite was definitely the octopus which was still chewy without being rubbery.
