Let's start off immediately with the star of the 3 dishes we ordered.
1. Green tea smoked duck, passion fruit vinaigrette
At $4 for 5 pieces, I dare say this is a must order for all who decide to dine here. The duck is done in like manner to the char siew you would find at other ramen stalls. Compared to pork, duck can be a little bit tougher on the bite. The passion fruit vinaigrette compliments the duck pleasantly and helps meld the whole dish together for a nice appetizer.
2. Kakuni(kou rou)Ramen (Chicken & Pork Soup)
A bowl of decently crafted ramen for $7.80? I didn't dare pin too much hope but what I got was better than I had expected. This would definitely qualify for a value for money bowl of ramen!
The broth is on the lighter side and as you dig into the kou rou, it's flavour will eventually be drowned out by the more savory meat. The noodles are your average ramen which is a pass.
3. Beef Sabu Ramen
My wife had the beef sabu ramen which was $7.80 as well. Soup and noodles are as above. As for the beef, she commented that it is your average shabu shabu beef slice you get from steamboat.
Take note:
All pictures are taken as it is when served. No filter. No re-arrangement of any ingredients.
At the point of this review, the only soup base available was the pork and chicken soup.
We had the Confit of Duck and the Verve Special Pizza(see picture). Both turned out pretty decent but I was expecting more from the Pizza since it's a "Pizza Place".
Pizza was decent but nothing to shout about, understand that they are going for a thin crust approach but we felt that the cheese and pizza sauce was a bit too little.
Confit of Duck was better than we expected. First few mouthful were a delight but as it was cream based and very rich so it became difficult to down it after the first few spoons.
Take note this place is fully NON-Air condition and does not serve tap water. Still water starts from $5. Service was decent but a little slow considering they were adequately staffed and there wasn't many customer.
