Comnam is the latest child of the Les Amis group, which targets at where Nam Nam Noodle Bar had not yet ventured into. Replacing Canele at Raffles City as its first outlet, the main concept of Comnam is to serve Broken Rice bowls and soups; usually seen as a peasant food in Vietnam but in less lowly form and also rarely seen in Singapore. Portions are generous here, especially if you opt for the higher priced ones, and there is flexibility to choose between Kimchi Brown Rice or Vietnamese Broken Rice. Apart from those, also try the different variations of sides which are not commonly found in other Vietnamese eateries or the drinks which are an interesting modern Vietnamese mix.
Double patties x double onions x chilli con carne x bacon x (am I making you hungry already?) Definitely a satisfying burger that is sufficient to fill even two hungry girls! Plus happy hour drink deals on Asahi, Great White and others | ★★★★★
Shove away fast food burgers. This burger was affordable, made fresh upon order and fast! Though you can't customize the doneness of the patty, it was thick and juicy, topped with a big handful of portobello mushrooms (I think...or button hahaha pls excuse me) and cheese. You can add $2.80 (student price) or $3.50 for a meal (fries and a canned drink) and I'd recommend it. The fries had a great flavour on its own so I didn't eat it with ketchup in the end. And they were crisp, and stayed crisp throughout my meal. Yay! My dad's meal was a double original beef burger, and he was very pleased with it too. :)
Turkish Coffee - I have never felt so good after a full course meal. Ended our session @ Ottoman Kebab & Grill with a cup of coffee. In Turkish culture, it's their tradition to do coffee cups reading after drinking up of coffee which serves with coffee grinds in the cup! Said Chef Ali, Former Chef of Ottoman Kebab & Grill.
To have your fortune to be told, you have to tip your cup upside down onto the saucer and wait for it to cool down for a few minutes.
True to Teppei style, Hanare offers two value-for-money buffet options: full buffet at $19.90 (one main dish + free flow of 20 side dish options) or bara set at $17.90 (chirashi don + free flow of 4 side dish options). While the full buffet had interestingly respectable dishes like whole garlic cloves cooked in Japanese spice, I much preferred the bara set. Topped with an incredibly generous portion of fresh chunky pieces of sashimi like salmon, tuna, scallop, surf clam, swordfish and roe, the chirashi was incredibly indulgent, save for the overpowering sesame dressing. If you're ordering this, you might probably want to request for the dressing on the side. Be sure to head down early; by 12:30pm, the 42-seater was packed with a dozen PMEBs waiting in line. Definitely worth the money, and best of all, you won't need to make a reservation two months in advance. #foodporn #foodreview #foodie #hanare #japanese #food #chirashi #sashimi
Good news for those who have missed Chef Shen Tan's signature Nasi Lemak, you can savour it again at the newly opened Ujong. Of course, other dishes are worth a try too, but be prepared to pay quite a bit more than you're used to, with dishes averaging $20 a pop! Here's what Tastemaker Rachel says about the Hae Bee Hiam Mentaiko Capellini- "One of my favourite dishes here has to be this: thin coils of pasta emollient with garlic-and-prawn-stock butter, dotted with crispy lardons, and slicked with an unexpectedly creamy dried shrimp and mentaiko paste. Keep a glass of water on hand because this dish packs a hefty dose of heat."
This beautiful new concept from Bali has taken over Keong Saik's iconic Tong Ah Kopitiam, and is thankfully serving great food in an inviting space. Tuck into a Three Buns burger on the whimsical second floor, and move upstairs to the third floor bar for a drink, or the rooftop garden if the weather permits.
In this new urban/edgy/bare brick Tras St spot, having Italian for dinner has gotten a lot more fun. Don't miss the Pulled Pork & Waffle fries ($15), perfectly fluffy homemade Gnocchi ($21), and the (omg wait for it) - Triple Cheese & Truffle Toasty at $15. Finish with a gorgeous Cannoli with whipped ricotta and lemon.

Hungarian Mangalica Pork Collar Kebab grilled over Binchotan (White Japanese Charcoal). Served with Paprika Fries and Tsatziki. Yums!
Beef short ribs, bovril, daikon, bonito. The beef was SOOOO good, a few mouthfuls were slick with rich, buttery, fatty bits that melted in the mouth like a dream. The daikon fries, however, were tasteless and did nothing for me.
