Tomato Soup Braised Beef Noodle Tomato soup was sweet and savoury. The braised beef was also very flavourful. Noodles are on the softer side but still enjoyable. Worth with burpple 1 for 1

All tasted delicious and it reminiscent me of my time in Chong Qing & Cheng Du. Super value buffet and surprisingly good Can’t believe the Sichuan a la carte buffet is only $29.90! Because if you look at the dishes they come in extremely big sizes 😱 Came here with my bf and we were honestly impressed. A la Carte buffet means we didn’t have to get out of our seat everything is ordered at your table. And it’s freshly made- every dish came piping hot. There are more than 25 dishes to choose from and we had a hard time choosing because we wanted to try all they all of them— there are chicken, beef, pork, seafood, veg, noodles, dessert. My favourites were La zi ji (spicy fried chicken) – super crispy and really spicy, but so addictive. I kept going back for more even though my mouth was on fire 😂 and Prawn with vermicelli – they actually cook this in front of you! Great for me to film for the ’gram, and also it also looks as tasty as it looks. We ate so much (this was lunch) that we didn’t eat dinner that day! He he he Location is also super convenient you can go by MRT to Chinatown station, its at Chinatown Point shopping mall. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area and want something filling without spending too much!

Decent Chinese buffet dishes! [CHINATOWN, SINGAPORE] @shuyanrestaurant is conveniently located on level 1 of Chinatown Point, offering Chinese dishes with an ala carte buffet concept! At $29.90 per adult, you get to order a variety of meat, seafood and carbs. Our favourite had to be the Garlic Vermicelli Prawn Balls with its strong garlic umami and snappy fresh prawns! Dishes like their Fried Chicken with Dried Chilli aka La Zi Ji were great as well, with the chicken pieces being slightly bigger and still really crunchy! However, admittedly there were some dishes that were misses as well, like the Fried Rice with Eggs which could have been more flavourful. Overall, the experience is still decent and may be worth it with a large group of big eaters. The dishes served are of full sizes so a larger group will mean that you can try more dishes! Hearty Bowl Of Pho Restaurant was quite empty on a Sat lunch time. Ordered the beef noodles and was pleasantly surprised! Soup was tasty and beef slices were generous. $9.90 for 2 bowls (1 for 1) was great value! Spring roll was also crispy. Will be back if they are still around!

Burpple Beyond 1-for-1 Main ($9.90) Came here after reading good reviews but was disappointed by the food. However, food was extremely affordable breaking down to only $5/pax with the Burpple deal since there was no service charge or GST. Boy: Combination Beef Noodle ($9.90). Was served the wrong dish but didn't rectify the order. Noodles only had lean meat. Found it okay, but a little salty. Says he can't compare it to any benchmark because he doesn't have Pho much. Was very thirsty after the meal. Girl: Chicken Noodle Soup ($8.90). Found there to be lack of layers where flavor is concerned. Perhaps used to Pho being slightly sour. Soup base had too much fish sauce so it was super salty. Found the food disappointing but edible at first, but by the end of the meal felt quite disgusted by the dish. Another strange thing was that they did not offer any condiments. Usually there are 4 to 6 different condiments available for Pho but there were none in this restaurant. Overall, we give the food a combined rating of 4/10. Boy found the taste good but that it was also too salty, and girl just found it bad for Pho. Maybe the only saving grace was the Mint and Lime Soda ($3.80) we ordered, which was refreshing after the salt-loaded soup.

Zi Char beyond 1-1 @Tamp Ordered 1-1 Jing Long Cai and Egg & Prawn Paste Chicken, Sweet and Sour pork. It would be suitable if you come in a bigger group as it comes in a large portion. Pretty worth it overall.

Tasty curry, but not exactly generous with the ingredients I honestly really enjoyed the thick curry that was super fragrant, not overly coconutty or cloying (read: not jelak), the fragrant spices clearly coming through; but I was a little disappointed at how there were almost no accompanying ingredients. One of my favourite things about fish head curry is the abundance of veggies in there — usually brinjal, tomatoes, okra even — and I was surprised to find barely a ladle’s worth of veggies in Fragrant Wok’s curry 😕 Still if you ain’t a sucker for the veggies like I am, you’d find the fresh fish and good curry pleasing enough.

Birria Beef Taco Had a great catch-up with friends over tacos at Afterwit! Loved my order of Birria Beef Taco ($20). Beefy, cheesy, oh-so-juicy and a tinge tangy-sweet with the salsa. Generously filled with well-seasoned meat and melted mozzarella, the charcoal tortillas (said to be prepared fresh daily) were pretty nifty to pick up as well - holding the moist filling nicely and providing tender-chewy bites though tbh I still made quite a mess. The lamb consomme served on the side was delightfully umami too, giving the comforting meat flavours a boost.

birria tacos this was really good!! i got the beef option (you can also choose lamb or chicken) and they gave a pretty decent amount of beef (although its not really obvious in the picture). also served with lamb consomme which was the ✨highlight✨ to me because it was made so well and so flavourful! the shop itself also had really nice and rustic vibes 🤩🤩

🌟 Delicious Soft Shell Tacos 🌟 Soft shell tacos usually aren't up my alley but in this case I didn't mind. On the pricier end for tacos at $15 for 2 but they were filling and well worth the pricetag imo. My friend ordered this for me as a takeaway and they were generously filled with pulled beef and cheese, just the right amount of savory and spicy. The whole dish is an umami explosion, in a good way, and I found it funny that they included quail eggs—a first for me, but they didn't really do anything flavor wise. It is served with some soft onions on the side and tomato purée in which I enjoyed dipping my tacos in. My only complaint...... This was a takeaway and the dish, overflowing with gravy and meat is incredibly messy to eat. I really wish they provided cutlery without being asked because I had to eat this in a public work area and I just hope to god no one saw me while I was eating this. They did provide 4 napkins along with the order however, which I found myself needing for the meal.

Spicy Prawn Pasta Am a lover of spice and this pasta dish definitely has the right amount of spice! It hits you right on the spot, spicy yet super satisfying! Prawns are also fresh!

Har Cheong Gai Chicken Cutlet ($10) One of the dishes that i liked from :Dual is the Har Cheong Gai (prawn paste) Chicken Cutlet. The chicken was crispy and juicy, just a tad on the saltier side. But i’m a fan of stronger flavours anyway, so its not too much of an issue for me. Definitely recommend this as a side order for sharing! This cafe is a merchant on Burpple Beyond (1-for-1 mains) as well, so save more when you dine here!

Mentaiko Pasta ($15) Saw a review by a fellow burppler that this was one of the worst mentaiko pasta he ever tried, and i totally agree. Presentation wise it certainly looked good, and the pasta was quite well cooked but taste wise it was so bland with probably only the slightest hint of mentaiko taste if i’m being totally honest. I had a much better time with their other dishes which I’ll be sharing more about in my other reviews.

Another Opinion Given the total price even with burpple beyond, HaiDiLao would be a better option for service, food and ambiance.

Lunch Set ($9.80) There are three options for the lunch set: Seafood ($9.80), Meat ($9.80 - choose pork, beef or mutton) and Mushroom ($8.80). Each set comes with a veggie platter and a good amount of meat. Oh, and all soup broths already come with chicken pieces in them! We added on rice, and a mojito mocktail, which is currently on promo ($3.80). The spicy & fragrant soup was tasty but got slightly oily after awhile. My friend really loved the original flavour (non-spicy), and I'll be trying that the next time I'm here. A really worthwhile lunch set in my opinion - certainly great for those days you feel hungry for something different but still wanna go easy on your wallet.

Grilled Chicken Cubanos ($14) Flavours were sinfully good although it would be perfect if the bread was more toasted/crispy. Nevertheless, it was still great and I will be back!

Pulled Beef Brisket ($11.90) ❤️ Love love love the chips that comes with the set. ❤️ Chips over fries. Although the fries are great too! ❤️ Beautiful ambience in the quieter part of town ❤️ Great latin music

Doco Donburi One for one set lunch was very worth it (: $17 for two sets including miso soup and a drink! Food was great ( filling ) and the ambience was awesome. It’s a work-space area and so pretty decorated!

Beef Donburi & Laksa Pasta The beef donburi was really delicious - the fried shallots was a great touch! Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the laksa pasta. I found the pasta a bit too dry, and the pasta a tad undercooked. Nonetheless, it is great value with BB, and a very spacious, quiet spot in town for a meal to recharge. :)

Beef Donburi Bowl $7 with the Burpple 1-for-1 which made it worth it. Beef and fish skins was good.. however, portion will be a bit small for guys.. would visit again!
