Value for money local faves in a cosy ambience Bustling on a Saturday lunchtime period, but the place quickly empties out at a certain time (I'm guessing it's when the kids' afternoon enrichment classes start). They do a variety of local SG favourites - we tried the curry chicken cutlet rice, fried beehoon, prawn mee, and prawn mee sua. Prawn mee broth was delicious, with tons of ingredients within, although i preferred the beehoon instead of the mee sua. The 2 bowls of prawn mee plus a hot milo and teh c ice only came up to $18.40. Pretty worth it. Ambience was also clean and bright, perfect for weekend chat sessions.

The Living Room Eating House (Leng Kee Community Club) Had a very unpleasant experience with The Living Room located @ Leng Kee CC, despite my prior regular visits. I was buying lunch for my family on 4th Dec noon time. The buzzer rang and I went to the side counter, saw one plastic of packed food and took it away. When I went out of the cafe, I took a peek and realized it wasn't my order. I quickly went back and returned the food, shocked to receive reprimand from the lady boss and her staffs for taking the wrong order. It was astonishing! I did notify the lady boss when I was retuning the buzzer and she also acknowledged me taking the packed food from the counter in the first place. Why she did not stop me then. There was also no proper collection system. I was the one who bothered to check the stuff, quickly went back to do the exchange but yet got all the blame / finger-pointing in the end !!!??? And pls note that I was not given any receipt at cashier to check the order # on the spot. This in Chinese saying is 恶人先告状。 ULTIMATE RUDENESS!!! Do we deserve such cocky, arrogant and unreasonable customer service? 😡

Mee Siam ($4) Tasty mee siam in an air conditioned cafe. Soup was not to spicy and drinkable! (っ˘ڡ˘Σ)

Yam Ring With Diced Chicken, Prawn and Nuts ($22) This was very good. The yam was crispy with a smooth inside, and it was packed full with lots of diced vegetables, fungus, mushrooms, chicken and nuts. It’s excellent and priced very reasonably as well. Service at Zi Yean was outstanding too.

Stewed Dried Scallop With White Cabbage ($15/22/30) Favourite dish of the night. The cabbage was stewed till it was really soft, and the gravy went well with it without being too salty. In fact, soft, full of gravy and accompanied by dried scallops are three things that describe many things on the menu. Everything we had was delicious, and at reasonable prices with no service charge.

Dim Sum Lunch I was here for a dim sum lunch on a weekday.. the place was more than half filled and service was prompt. The dim sum here is good, as I expected, since it's opened by a Hong Konger. I usually try not to have any expectations, because the more you expect the worst the food can be most times. Zi yean does not disappoint me at all! We ordered a variety of dishes & I can't remember which one is not as good. As I didn't had the pork ribs myself, I heard that the pork ribs were not tasty. Can't wait for the next visit!

Wanton Mee Very good value for money breakfast. For $3.50 you’ll get 4 plumb and tasty wantons, char siew and lots of mee. The noodles are the qq type and sauces are well mixed with it. Yummy!

Xlb 4.5nett/6pcs I think the rest of the reviews are outdated, at least those that complain about the filling being mushy(unless they just had a bad day then) The skin was very solid, it's got significant bite, it doesn't break easily at all. There's quite a bit of soup too, and the filling was quite meaty and quite big. Quite rare that a place does a savoury instead of sweet version, but this is much appreciated Overall every element is competent, not worth a special trip but it's good if yo have cravings

Red Bean Pancake Fragrant. Not much red bean. The worst thing is it's pricier than my noodles!

Chilli Oil Wanton La Mian Quality noodles. Wantons had a bit too much skin but still okay. Watch out, the chilli oil has a good punch. It's just cucumber but it's worth mentioning it really helped to freshen up the meal.

Mutton briyani 6.5nett The egg is 0.5nett, pappadum as well Everything was alright, generally quite mild, mutton was tender. Nothing to travel for, it's really quite safe and not very strongly spiced, rice was fluffy. Nowhere near as mindblowing as the tekka branch, best of think of them as completely different

Nasi Briyani Was dining at Redhill Food Centre, saw a new signboard with a familiar name. Didn't know that one of my fav Nasi Briyani, Allauddin’s Briyani has a new outlet here For those who are looking for a nice plate of Briyani around this area, this is worth a try. Curry Egg And Potato I like how innovative Mr bean is and this curry potato and egg pancake from Mr bean has hit all the right notes. The creamy potato is masked with an aromatic and spicy 🌶 curry seasoning and the combination of potato and egg is just the perfect marriage . I like how the wholemeal pancake imparts a slight nuttiness and bite 😊 My favourite “ flavour “ from Mr Bean hence on :) You gotta try it to experience how good it is 😊

Eating For A Good Cause Loved how the sambal goreng has a creamy texture to it. The ayam belado was good too. Do pop by as they are also a community kitchen who distribute food to the elderly in the neighbourhood. So you can eat more without feeling guilty because its for a good cause!

Perfect To Quench The Spiciness Of The Nasi Padang Chendol Lived how the stall was generous with their toppings and flavour. Perfect to cool your tongue after eating nasi padang from the next stall

Dan Zai Mutton Noodle Interesting stall. Their primary business is hotpot, but to capture diners like me who don't want hotpot, they use the same ingredients to whip up noodles. You can see sliced mutton, a prawn, greens, seaweed and an egg. The star though was the wicked noodle seasoning. The soup was very robust too.

Claypot Curry Chicken I have never ever see a glowing curry chicken before ✊🏻 A smooth and not exactly spicy claypot curry chicken is the best for a lunch time. They are really generous on their chicken (probably 5 drummlets + chicken wings) with handful of potatoes. This curry is slightly thick with quite a fair bit of milk.
