Egg Prata I have been constantly disappointed with pratas I have had everywhere else . Cafe O is probably the only place that can make my prata the way I like it. Crisp , light and not greasy . The accompanying fish curry is always rich and tasty . Too many disappointments from prata else where - either too greasy , not fresh ( because they were not made ala minute - usually made in stacks and pilled up ) or the curry is watered down - like curry powder with water . I am further convinced that I should get my pratas here only - regardless of noises that say why pay more for a prata here. It’s the quality ... Yo !

Soft Bun Meal ($5.50) Comes with Soft Bun, 2 eggs, Hot Teh/Kopi. The food and drinks were good! Buns were crispy and soft at the same time, prefer this to Ya Kun’s toasts. Their eggs are less runny though. Overall a yummy meal 🍞🥚🥚☕️ However, the service was dismal in comparison. I was standing there for almost 10 minutes, but nobody told me what’s the “right side of the queue”. The queue only formed when I was about to order, but I had to re-queue. Then I was left standing like a fool waiting for my meal, even though they could have told me to take a seat first. It was my first time there, how was I supposed to know how the service works zzz. Disappointing service 👎🏻

Mee Soto (SGD $4.50) @ HJ Waliti HJ Mazuki. Founded sometime in 1972, this humble stall is known for offering hearty and affordable noodle soup dishes. . Their rendition features probably the lightest turmeric infused chicken soup / broth I've tried, thin and clear, warm with mild meaty sweet spice flavour. . Generous portion of chewy yellow egg noodles, crisp bean sprouts, tender boneless shredded chicken, crisp coriander, and soft fried shallot. Carries grainy sweet meaty savoury herbal spice flavour, lower in salt than most. . Feels wholesome. Contrasted with the addition of a soft begedil / fried potato patty with starchy earthy salty savoury spice sweet flavour. . . . Better Than Average Soto Ayam Tried the Soto Ayam from “H.J. Walita H. J. Mazuki” at Haig Road Market & Food Centre (#01-18) for the first time today. Didn’t notice the @makansutrasingapore decal with 6-chopstick rating on their signboard till after I ordered but yay!! Glad to know my “good food hunting” instincts weren’t wrong. What a tasty bowl it turned out to be. The aromatic gravy was thicker than others and quite complex in flavour due to the plentiful spices and addition of coconut milk. There’s plenty of shredded chicken breast meat and ketupat (compressed rice cake) in my $3 bowl but yet I couldn’t resist adding a Begedil (50 cents) because I think the spiced potato patty is shiok mashed up in the gravy.

Roasted Duck Rice $7.30 / $9.20 (upgrade to drumstick) | The roasted duck is well marinated and tasty. Would have enjoyed it more if it’s served hot. Located in a corner of the basement of Sembawang Shopping Centre. This newly opened Malay-inspired restaurant is in the midst of getting Halal certification.

Nasi lemak with otah ($11.30) The fact that this joint has been in the Michelin guide for 4 years in a row is yet another confirmation that the Mich inspectors are clueless when it comes to judging non-western cuisine. The sambal is pretty unique, but otherwise the rice is not fragrant and the chicken very meh. At the Lucky Plaza outlet, they even serve it in a paper box with plastic utensils - useless for the not-so-tender chicken.

Fish Fillet Nasi Lemak A delicacy that you would not want to miss when you're at Canberra Plaza. The only disappointment is they no longer serve the rice with banana leaf. Which I am not sure the reason. Chilli is not spicy, it fits most people even if you do not eat chilli often. I would definitely come for 2nd round for other options. It is located inside Cantine you can use Fairprice apps to pay and get 10% discount.

Not Bad Nasi Padang Beef + beef lungs + sotong + spinach @ $11 The beef dishes are not bad, just the curry beef a little bit dry. Can't really go wrong with the sotong and veggie. Overall not bad but a bit expensive and have had better nasi padang elsewhere before.

Not Bad Nasi Padang Chicken + tempeh long beans + achar @ $7 Been wanting to try this place for a while and the last time we went in the evening there weren't many dishes left. Went for lunch today at about 12nn and some of the dishes only had a bit left in the tray. Overall not too bad, but have had better. A tad expensive for the number of dishes though. Nasi lemak chilli and sambal belachan are both not bad.

Nasi Sambal Goreng Ayam Among all the restaurants in Woods Square, there’s this Malay restaurant at the basement serving Indonesian cuisine such as their signature Nasi Ambeng. But I decided to go for their nasi sambal, since I love sambal chili. It comes with chicken, squid, bagadel, tahu and bean sprouts. It is quick a heavy meal with all sorts of flavours from sweet to spicy.

Pretty pricey nasi lemak Found this quite expensive, although I must say there is a good variety of ingredients. Coconut rice is fragrant too.

Nasi Lemak Royale Our go-to for nasi lemak these days because Crave serves really fragrant coconut rice and the chilli strikes the right balance between sweetness and spiciness (leaning towards the sweeter side of course). The rice is served with one crispy fried chicken wing, fried fish fillet, fried egg, bergedil, and a pretty generous serving of ikan bilis (hidden underneath). $8.50 might seem a little pricey but for the amount of ingredients that the Royale comes with, and the quality of the rice, we think it's pretty worth it!

Curry Chicken Rice Who doesn’t love a plate of rice drenched in curry and topped with crispy and tender fried chicken? Sometimes the best food is just at the most unassuming of places. This is less than $6 if I recall correctly!

Encik Tan Laksa was not bad, but definitely needed the chilli paste to bring out the flavors.

Encik Tan Ordered the Hainanese curry rice chicken drumstick set. Top up for a drink at $1. The curry was thick and flavorful, the chicken drumstick was tender and the cabbage was cooked to a soft texture.
