Encased within the thin, silky smooth skin is a generous amount of tasty filling that's composed of mostly minced pork with some minced shrimp. Strips of black fungus and bamboo shoot give the dumplings a nice crunchiness too. For those who like things spicy, there's a trio of condiments to choose from: sambal chilli, pickled green chillies and a sourish Thai chilli dip.
Based on the customers I saw at this Singaporean-owned eatery when I was there, it was the wanton mee that's popular. Considering Huang Kee Restoran has a noodle-making facility on the premises, this makes perfect sense. If you come at the right time, you can even view the staff at work through the big glass window dividing the dining and work areas.
