This was nothing like the mutton soup I had in mind. It was quite the wild taste! Honestly, the broth was very bland like plain water with a wild taste, and I had to add my own condiments to give it flavour. The soup was packed with goat meat and offal. While the offal were tender and had a decent texture, some innards like the blood and a few unknown parts weren’t really to my taste. I only took a tiny bite of those to give a try, and overall, I found the soup quite unappealing. If the broth had more fats and seasoning, I might have felt differently, but as it stands, this one’s a meh for me.
You’ve probably heard of sashimi, maybe even exotic versions like horse or whale, but have you ever known of goat sashimi? Known as Yagisashi in Japanese, it’s a local delicacy that can mostly be found in Okinawa. Now, you might wonder, is it safe to eat? Like all raw dishes, there’s always a risk of foodborne illness, so it’s really a trust-based system with the chef’s skills and hygiene standards. Goat sashimi is slightly roasted on the surface before serving.
I expected a strong, gamey flavour, but to my surprise, it was clean, light, and refreshing, with no gaminess at all. The texture was firm, chewy, and smooth, served chilled. It comes paired with ginger, soy sauce, and vinegar to enhance the flavour. While it tasted great, the chewing was a little tiring. I also tried it with mug wort, but found it too bitter for my liking. Definitely something you should try once in your life.
During my research for this trip, I came across something truly unique in Okinawan cuisine—goat dishes, and that’s how I ended up here. This restaurant specialises in everything goat-related, offering raw, cooked, common, and exotic parts of the animal. Since I'm always up for a mehmehfoodventure, it seemed like the perfect place to explore some adventurous eats!😂

Awamori (180ml)(¥1000)
Served with ice and cold mineral water to dilute, this traditional Okinawan sake is strong! While I’m still not a fan of its taste, I can’t deny the booze hits hard. After just one cup serving, I quickly headed back to the hotel and got knocked out. Proceed with caution!
Cash Payment only!
Would I eat goat again? I’d say yes, but next time, I’d like to try another goat restaurant to find a version with better texture and flavour that suits my palate. Now, the real question is, would you try it? 🤭
