It was like a little like assam laksa, tangy and spicy without the fish in it. It's amazing to see how across South East Asia, our cuisines are so varied and yet similar. Of course, I can't get enough of my steamed rice cakes and some fruits to make myself feel a little healthier.

Maison vy is perfect for those who don't like to venture to the local markets for street food. They allow you to sample it at your hotel! Can't ask for more.

The dishes served were really simple, synonymous with what a typical Vietnamese dinner would be and we loved it. When produce is so fresh and good, it really stands out. We had claypot fish, pickles, egg omelette, claypot chicken, French beans and jicama stir fry (this was amazingly light, sweet and good) and a soup. It was a hearty meal and we really enjoyed it with our steamed rice. Guess, we are Chinese after all and we must have our rice!

For some of them, you top with shredded pork floss and deep fried shallots and others, a tasty shrimp paste. So good that I went back for seconds. If not for our cooking class, I would have had a third helping.

You can't imagine our delight when we saw what the large steamer contained! Rice cakes, dumplings and more steamed rice cakes wrapped in banana leaves.
