Must Try
Absolutely stunning! Had the strawberry, banana, vanilla walnut and lavender. All of the flavors didn't disappoint in terms of taste and looks. Eclairs are priced around $8 and it is worth it to try different flavors using the burpple offer. I loved how the cream is thick and flavors didn't feel artificial (which can go wrong for strawberry and banana). The pastry was so soft and for those with nuts topping, it was just the right amount of crunch and paired perfectly with the eclair filling.
The food tasted amazing! It hits all the right notes and gave a nostalgic feel of the tastes we love for peranakan sweet treats. The deal was really worth it using the burpple whereby the set can be shared among 3 people.
The classical deco and high ceiling gave a nice afternoon tea ambience.
However, I waited 45 mins for the set to arrive and the place was clearly understaffed, which sadly led to an unpleasant experience.
Truffle pasta ($12) - Was watery and unfortunately drown the truffle taste and aroma.
Pulled pork Benny ($14) - Definitely worth the craze. I can understand why this is a popular contender, with the soft yet smokey pulled pork. The brioche bread was a delight, crispy on the edges and pillowy in the centre. Egg oozed out when pierced, capturing the cascading of a perfect egg Benedict. No faults here, absolutely love it and it was affordable for a brunch main in Singapore.
(Burpple 2 for $25 nett) Love the tenderness of the roast beef. The sauce beautifully accompanied the beef and running egg yolk just seals the deal, coating the rice magnificently. Devoured the dish in a heartbeat. (9/10)
Had the salmon on a separate occasion and the Mentaiko and doneness of the salmon was a perfect marriage. Would recommend it too,for non-beef eaters.
Service was incredibly fast ~ Had a chat with the owner and they have been struggling really badly with the covid outbreak and the lack of customers in CBD. So if you are looking for a good homey quick bite and yet affordable Japanese food, please support them
Had a Steak Benny and the breakfast platter for brunch, accompanied with tiramisu and Walnut brownie.
Steak Benedict - Love the cook on the steak (medium rare) and the combination of fresh flavors. Definitely worth it at $16.50 (8/10)
Breakfast Platter - Love the freshness of the veggies (grilled tomato but not overdone, salad). Decided to get it with the chicken sausage and it was juicy and cooked to perfection. The flavor took me by surprise and again, priced at $16.50, it was worthwhile with the burrple deal (8.5/10)
Brownie was fudgy but yet firm, being heat up and there were crunchy walnuts to tie the dish together (7/10)
Tiramisu was dellish ~ for $5.80, very worth while (7/10)
Service and ambience and the space really made this cafe a desirable brunch place. I believe that there is some music (as there was a music stage) and it would be a lovely place to hang out (9/10)
