Weird or not? 🙃 Sweet potato fries topped with teriyaki sauce and melted marshmallows, and BBQ sauce on the side. From The World Is Flat by Tanuki Raw.

The queue was never-ending, even after lunch time. •

Dad strongly recommended the Power Chendol and Penang Ice Kachang (both $2). The gula melaka here is superb! The consistency is like an extremely thick syrup. However, the 料 here is quite miserable.

Not really impressed with both chicken sticks. Chicken thigh was not very tender and the chicken balls had flavour only on the outside.
The pork dishes were better especially with the help of the sauces (capsicum and apple purée). I liked the texture of the pork cheek.
The best was saved for last. A must try is the beef short ribs here! Not featured is the Japanese Curry Risotto Ball, which is a delight!

The hawker centre in itself is a cool place to check out. Reconstructed stalls to look like rows of shophouses, with many interesting cuisines like Vietnamese and Ramen.
Back to this dish, the soft boiled egg is served with The Burning Oak's signature homemade sauce. At the moment it is nameless but definitely memorable.

If you are ever in the area, you have to give this hawker stall a try. Extremely tender chicken and the porridge so smooth it just slides down your throat.

Making up for the two weeks I was away and craving all the different Asian cuisines. They don't really fancy spices there and so glad to have chilli in my life again.

Sliced fish mui fan and beef hor fun from the relatively new stall at the hawker centre. Generous with the fish but the sauce for the beef is a bit salty.

Remember this from some time back? Tiong Bahru Lor Mee (with its signature shark nuggets) is now available at West Coast!

This was so carefully and painstakingly made by the stall owner. A mixture of saltiness from the chilli sauce, sweetness from the chopped peanuts and crunchiness from the fried flout bits. Would prefer more vegetables other than just turnip for the main ingredient.

For dinner/supper mum and I shared a big plate of hokkien mee (fried prawn noodles) for only $5. Served on top of a piece of banana leaf on a banana leaf plate. Can't get better than that :)

Lor Mee from Boon Lay Place for breakfast. Verdict?

Pro: Lots of fish. Pork is lean (I hate the fatty parts). Con: Very little noodles, even for a girl it wasn't filling, needless to say guys. Sauce was too starchy and tasted like gelatinized duck rice soup.
