Chinese Food
Had a quick lunch here as we noticed they are known for their handmade Hong Kong style dim sum. When we were seated, we noticed that almost every table ordered their pao fan. Hence we decided to order one of their pao fan sets which comes with 6 pieces of dimsum, hot Chinese tea and dessert. It is a great option for those with big appetite and to try a variety of food off their menu. For those with smaller appetite 2 people can easily share one set. The dim sum was served fast and tasted fresh. But the highlight of the meal is the chili they have there. It is very fragrant and had bits of crispy garlic inside. It goes really well with all their dimsum. The store is also located quite near maxwell food centre so it is definitely a possible lunch option when working in the area!
It's my first time having porridge with zichar dishes. Loved the porridge as the consistency was just right and there were chucks of sweet potatoes inside. We ordered quite a few zichar dishes to share and the bitter gourd fish slices goes really well with the porridge. Loved the thick sauce with porridge. The prawn paste fried chicken is a must order! The chicken was light and cripsy, the prawn paste was not overpowering and the meat was juicy. We went during the day but we found out that they open until 2am which makes it a great spot for supper!
Dropped by for a quick weekend lunch as was in Chinatown area.
Loved the traditional Chinese decorations and they had really soothing music playing in the background during the whole time we were there.
There was a great variety of dishes to choose from and the staff was very helpful in recommending us dishes to try. Ordered a few dishes to share and was pleasantly surprised by their large portions – the pan fried chicken with ginger was a whole chicken and there was so much leftover that we had to takeaway.
Would strongly recommend ordering their appetizer platter to try as it comes with 3 different appetizers and all tasted amazing! Everything was freshly fried and pipping hot when served. The marinated fried chicken was dish that surprised me the most as I was not expecting it to have a slight tartness to it that helped to cut through the grease perfectly. Would return just to reorder this dish again!
Another must try is their mee sua. It was unique as the noodles were bite sized instead of the usual long ones we have at other restaurants. The soup was full of flavour and there was what tasted like crunchy vegetables which added to the texture.
Overall had an amazing lunch at Min Jia and would highly recommend as a place to try Min Nan food which I rarely see in Singapore.
