Named after one of the mandopop star’s albums, @8degreesatsg is the perfect place to prepare for the show by listening to his catchy songs while gobbling up authentic Taiwanese dishes at affordable prices 😍

We visited the Jalan Besar branch for late lunch on the weekend - the place was buzzing with lots of takeaway orders 🥡 Luckily we got a table immediately and food was served quite promptly

𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬
My go-to Taiwanese comfort food is always good old lu rou fan (pork belly rice) and this signature dish certainly did not disappoint. The portion size was just right while the savoury braised meat bursted with flavour.

The chewy noodles topped with cucumber slices were slurp-worthy too despite the garlic flavour being a tad bit overwhelming.

Both beverages were above average, but we would recommend choosing 0% sweetness as the boba itself is quite sweet already.

If you haven’t heard of this aesthetic bubble tea brand, @machimachi_singapore is apparently one of Jay Chou’s faves and was even featured in his music video ‘Won't Cry’ (𝘣𝘵𝘸 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘨 🎵)

We went to the branch near Haji Lane - absolutely loved the minimalistic sign above the seats outside (📷 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘱𝘱) as well as the pretty bottles (𝘐 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘶𝘴𝘦)

Surprisingly this was my fave, as the refreshing nature helped beat the hot weather, plus the smooth texture and slight sourness of the plum jello at the bottom of the bottle really stood out 👍🏻

I ordered this just #forthegram and kinda regretted it 😅 Don’t get me wrong, I actually quite enjoyed the sweet strawberry milk, but the creamy panna cotta made this feel more like a dessert than a drink, and was quite heavy after lunch that I still felt bloated till dinner time… so I would recommend sharing with someone 😌

Yes, I’ll give it a second chance and would probably try their tea-based drinks next time 🍵
