My favourite Mee Pok ($4) since I was introduced to it about a year and a half ago. I always end up coming back to this stall for my mee pok fix.

The homemade chili sauce is so tasty, especially when you see the generous chunks of lard that they mix it with. In general, the sauce with the mee pok here is super flavourful and not too spicy.

Paired with some homemade QQ fishballs, it’s a complete meal. I like that the fishballs come in these odd, uneven shapes, which shows you that they are homemade.

Be prepared to queue if you come on a weekend because this stall is very popular! Would recommend coming early (around 10:30am) so the wait isn’t long and you’ll be guaranteed to get what you want, because this stall sells out fast.

We really waited 45 mins in the queue for this Kway Chap but boy was it worth it!

You can actually see how silky and clear the noodles are in the bowls and how it is swimming in that broth. It’s topped with fried shallots and Chinese parsley for extra flavour.

For the ingredients, we went for slices of the Pork Belly, Tau Kwa, Fishcake, Hard Boiled Eggs, and some of the innards. Everything was so tasty and the meat was tender and a good balance of meaty and fatty. It all goes great with their chili but I do wish there was more soup available. The noodles do soak up the soup quite quickly so it’s best eaten right away.

After trying this, I now understand why there’s always a queue at this stall because they do live up to the fame and hype. Even at 8/9am there is a queue!

My aunt and I have tried Cheong Fan Paradise for breakfast a few times now, and it’s become a family favourite to make those work from home days a little more exciting.

Pictured (clockwise from the top) are the Char Siew Cheong Fan, Prawn Cheong Fun, and the Plain Cheong Fan.

All three are delicious but my favourite is the Char Siew Cheong Fan because it has a good mix of fatty and meaty pieces of pork. The cheong fan is silky and thin, which pairs nicely with the gravy, which isn’t too salty, and the fried shallots on top. The Prawn version comes with a good amount of prawn and tastes great with their chili while the Plain version comes with cai po and a thicker sauce/gravy. I find that it tastes nicer with less of the sauce because it is on the saltier side.

Prices are very reasonable and each order comes with enough cheong fan to share or to have to yourself.
