Danish was slightly crisp, would have preferred it crisper but too bad they donāt offer toasting services during off peak (we went at about 3pm when it is queue-less). This had ~half a nicely roasted apple, which was soft but still had a bite to it (not mushy!) with warm cinnamony flavours, and some caramel sauce on top. There were some crumbles on top - they mention that it is a hawaij crumble, which Google says is a spice blend. It tasted kinda like a warm spiced streusel to me. We didnāt rly like the creme anglaise sauce that they gave separately, it was too runny and didnāt rly taste like much, sort of just like a cold milk which we didnāt think added much. I got this at $2.38 bc of my prior fave cashback but I thought it was quite pricey at $8.
These are modo birthday donut specials! The donuts were very fluffy and plush - the dough is enriched but light! Not greasy at all. They were quite generously filled; each bite we took pushed the cream outwards, threatening to spill out š The strawberry cream was light and delivered on the strawberry flavour, but not as intensely tart/sweet compared to a strawberry jam. According to google, gulab jamun is a milk-solid-based sweet that is super sweet, but this one wasn't so I was pleasantly surprised as I had expected a caramel level of sweetness. It was more like a mildly sweet light cream perfumed with cardamom. Also thought there would be some pistachio filling but it was just 2 pistachio nut toppings :p There were also 2 cardamom pod toppings which can be quite strong so please take note! Both flavours were pretty nice but we preferred the strawberries one as it has a more distinct flavour! Also the sugar coating on the gulab jamun donut melted into the donut, while it remained as sugar granules for the strawberry one. At $6 it's quite pricey but I felt that it was a more enjoyable experience compared to burnt ends (BE's dough is less fluffy, fillings are comparable) / sourbombe (sourbombe's dough has a sour tang which is nice but the dough is also not as fluffy, plus the fillings damn meh). Comparable to puffsandpeaks!
This was HUGE. It came with 1 regular burger sized schnitzel, and 1 large schnitzel SLAB that was twice the size of the regular one. Chicken schnitzel was ok, wasnāt crisp at all so it just tasted quite average, chicken wasnāt juicy either. The potato bun was nice tho! Sauce was refreshing too, there were some chopped capsicums in it. But overall kinda disappointing, this is not one of their better sandwiches.
This was part of their July weekend specials! It was quite coconutty bc of the coco strips. But not much ginger flavours. The coco pudding had a nice consistency that didnāt taste floury but still thick / not runny. Fresh pineapples were sweet!! The Danish was crisp and rather delish after a quick toast. I would say that this is nice but I think $9 is kinda exorbitant.
This has a nice tang, with a pleasant rosemary herbiness. Crumb is v moist. It looks like it's almost too wet/gummy, but it really isn't and what you get is a soft, hydrated sourdough.
The soft but firm cubed potato gives a textural contrast, but I felt like the potato could have been roasted / browned, these were pale and didnāt have the wonderful potato flavours I was expecting .
Toasting the sourdough crisps up the surface, and makes it tastier. There are some garlic bits but it would be better if it was more prominent with a punchy garlic flavour. Nevertheless, it was still an enjoyable loaf.
ALSO this lasted from sat to wed and still didn't dry out / get mouldy. Quite impressed bc some other sourdoughs dry out quite quickly / get mouldy by the third day.
The kubaneh was a pretty enriched, layered bread with some nigella seeds that gives a subtle nutty, smokey flavour. It looks and tastes deceptively like sesame seeds but there's slightly more complexity in the taste. I found that the flavour developed more over time, and it tasted nicer on the 2nd/3rd day compared to having it fresh. The bread is really nice already but what really elevated it was the ZHOUG (a spicy cilantro sauce from Yemen). The zhoug was really flavourful and herby and refreshing, and the spice kick (it's a manageable level of spiciness) hits you at the back. They gave us 2 tubs to go with the kubaneh but I wish there was more because it was so yummy!! My fav purchase for this modo tripš¤š¼
Super yummy! This was an August weekend special. Itās a Danish filled with onions slow-cooked in beef broth, spiced sourdough breadcrumbs, parmesan, garlic oil & rosemary. It was very flavourful & savoury, and smelled so good when I opened my container. Oh, they also offer discounts when you bring your own takeaway containers, love this initiative!
This was avail during their 2nd birthday celebrations! A crisp Danish filled with banana infused custard, fresh banana, chocolate dulce de leche and topped w meringue. Enjoyed the combi of the custard with fresh banana - I do like gooey bananas in my food. The dulce de leche was sweet (it is a form of sugar after all), but they didnāt give too much so it wasnāt overly sweet. Personally not a big fan of meringue, would have preferred the danish without it. Still enjoyed this though :)
Also: happy belated birthday, Mother Dough!
Oof I really loved this. Fluffy brioche filled with nutty, savoury tahini and topped with cream cheese. It was also really hefty, so we kept it till the next day and it still tasted great. This item was part of their birthday lineup!
This was pretty good, but I felt that the croissant itself could have been more crisp! Should probably have toasted it at home, but I also wanted to have it fresh. They were very generous with the frangipane filling, which was not too sweet and rather pleasant.
This contained tuna, mayo, capers, jalapeƱo, cheesy spiced breadcrumbs, smoked cheddar, arugula between 2 slices of whole wheat sourdough.
The bread is really good, especially the crunchy edges. We both liked the middle part best, where the cheese and tuna were especially nice. I liked the addition of the capers, and there was a slight spicy kick from the spiced breadcrumbs. Itās a satisfying toastie, but I donāt think itās worth the splurge.
This was very soft and fluffy! Got it shortly after they brought it out of the oven so it was warm, yum. Light on the palate and with a nice kick of saltiness from the sea salt. Couldnāt really taste the garlic oil fragrance tho.
