hawker
Wild Olives is clearly no stranger to the East hawker scene, serving affordable Western fare. I had the 𝐆𝐑𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐃 𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐊 𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐏 ($𝟕.𝟐𝟎) with mushroom rice and grilled herb potatoes🥔👌🏼 In my humble opinion, this is the best main+sides combi.
is niceee even though it’s on the starchier side! but portion v small :(
was a no from everyone unfortunately…ingredients were sour and not fresh
finally tried the dry version and it’s so good!! just wished that the noodles were more qq
also tried the fried rice from the new noodle stall a few stalls down. it smelled really good but tasted q bland :(
carrot cake was too mushy and charkwayteow had no wokhei
the horfun from New Choy Lam Eating House was tasty! the aunty was super nice too hehe. gonna come back to try the hokkien mee.
i also tried the oyster omelette (i got the med $4 portion) from Xin Xin Famous Fried Oyster a few stalls down. theirs is crispyyy and less starchy with fresh oysters. overall i thought it was not bad! but i’m not a fan of the chilli tho
pan mee & teh bing were great as usual!
claypot rice was much smaller in portion than i remembered and orh luak texture was too mushy but taste-wise both were good!
first time trying the oyster omelette here and it’s SO GOOD??? wokhey x1000 and the oysters were damn big and plump and fresh
a bit better than the last time i had it, but still a nay from my fam
We had some expectations for the CRAB MEAT OMELETTE ($28). We loved that it was generously stuffed with chunks of crab but felt that it could have been fluffier with more char on the top.
SIGNATURE DOUBLE FISH SOUP ($6)
📍Fish Eden
fried & sliced fish were good! Soup was flavourful but a lil oily. felt that the noodles should have been included instead of an add-on.
FRIED PRAWN NOODLES - SMALL ($5.80)
OYSTER OMELETTE - SMALL ($6)
📍Thye Hong Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodles
hokkien noodles was kinda flat & no wokhei. sambal was too oily. lovedd the omelette super crispy, but the oyster wasnt fresh.
My family never fails to order some 五香 from Zhong Zhong Fine Spice #02-148 whenever we’re at Bukit Timah Food Centre.
It basically works like YTF, but everything is fried😂. This giant plate & two servings of beehoon costed $13 which is quite worth imo!!
