Wanted to try this place the moment we saw it on DanielFoodDiary. We ordered the fondue chicken burger and the mentaiko rose pasta. Both dishes looked beautiful and very instagrammable, however, what truly matters is the taste right?
The fondue chicken burger was actually a little messy to eat as its entirety was smothered with cheese, however, it did not disappoint. The chicken was piping hot and pairing it with cheese was amazing. Additionally, there was a lot of fries that came with the burger, and I couldn't finish it all, so don't be worried about the portion as its definitely more than enough to satisfy.
The mentaiko rose pasta on the other hand, was not as amazing, we felt that the pasta was pretty ordinary and the portion size could have been bigger. Nevertheless, it was still good
Overall, we do find this place to be a good place to eat at but be prepared to burn off those calories if you are going to order the fondue chicken!
Located at the top level of jewel, although the place was crowded with people, the restaurant still maintained a nice relaxing atmosphere.
We ordered the jewel chirashi and truffle fries. The chirashi was fresh and delicious, didn't need to use the soy sauce at all as it was already delicious on its own. The snow crab meat was interesting, although it wasn't particularly amazing as it wasn't served whole, but as a small clump.
The truffles fries was also great, however, I didn't really like the mushroom tempe, truffle mayonnaise, chives and shio konbu toppings. Would have preferred it on its own.
Overall, the food was good, place was nice, I would give it a 7/10
We ordered the black forest ham fladen and the farmer's sausage to share, using the burpple beyond one for one deal. The fladen was nice and salty, perfect for starting the meal off and getting our appetites going. The farmer's sausage, on the other hand, was juicy, fat and absolutely savoury. The potatoes that was soaked in the juices of the sausage was also another delicious side that pairs very well with the sausage.
One thing to note, the fladen was too much for 2, and would be better for a group of 4 to share. Otherwise, the meal was perfect.
Highly reccomended to visit, service was great, staff was very friendly despite being very busy at dinner time, food was served hot. Had an amazing time here
Great restaurant hidden away in a corner of Thomson plaza. We ordered the upsized chirashi and the tamago mentai chirashi, both were extremely tasty, however, I felt that this time the fish wasn't as fresh as there was a fishy aftertaste, however, it was still delicious with abit of wasabi and soy sauce.
Overall, both service and food was good, would reccomend to visit. Just remember to make a reservation or risk a long queue
*my girlfriend liked the design of the chopstick holder, which looked v similar to ice bear from we bare bears, so extra points for that haha
2nd time visiting tamago-en, previously I ordered the omurice, and was very disappointed as both the egg and the rice tasted very plain as compared to other restaurants selling the same.
This time, I ordered their signature ultimate egg rice (Grilled eel with shredded egg), if you don't already know, the egg whites are served whipped until fluffy. Sadly, I felt that the entire dish would taste better without the egg whites as every bite I took tasted like foam. The rest of the dish was fine though, the unagi was decent and the shredded egg provided an interesting texture to the dish
Aside from all the negative aspects of the mains, all is not lost as the pancakes they serve are delicious, fluffy and sweet, I would reccomend visiting just for the pancakes alone.
This restaurant has probably one of the best views you can get of the jewel waterfall, and that's not even the best thing yet.
My girlfriend and I ordered the chicken burrito, pork tacos as well as the mozzarella cheese sticks. Both the burrito and tacos were great, we found it very filling and it tasted pretty authentic. The mozzarella cheese sticks was also a nice start to our meal. Overall a great place to go if you are looking for something different from your typical Singaporean eats.
We used the burpple beyond to redeem the 1-for-1 mains so the total for what we order was very affordable. Just a word of caution, do check the price of the water they serve before ordering it as water's not free and they do have a few choices for that. (I randomly ordered and paid abit more than I wanted to so too bad for me ahahaha)
Located at Boat Quay, the place has a beautiful view of the Singapore River and a chill and lazy vibe. We ordered the SOMMERGLÜCK and GESELLE set meals, (basically their grilled chicken breast burgers), and the burgers were moist, juicy and delicious, not to mention the sweet potato fries were absolutely addictive.
We paid a total of $55~ but it's quite worth it as the food is very filling, the ambience was great. Even on a Friday night, there was not much of a crowd and it just felt pretty comfortable.
Highly reccomended to visit. 9/10
*Disclaimer: we ate a lot of fries before taking this photo while waiting for our entire order to come, there's actually alot of fries, enough to share
