Brunch / Cafes ๐ณ๐ฅ๐โ๏ธ
Iโve been here a couple of times and Iโm glad to say that this place never disappoints. I wouldnโt say that their stuff is mind-blowingly good, but theyโre all fail-safe brunch staples. Definitely my go-to place for a satisfying brunch in Serangoon. ๐ฅณ
๐๐๐ Their Mushroom Bacon Carbonara ($20.9) is reeeeally creamy & comforting. And as usual, I love how they donโt skimp on their ingredients. ๐๐ผ
๐ฆ๐ Cereal Prawn Pasta ($21.4): Spicy Aglio Olio with a local twist to itโ featuring their โHawker-style Cereal Butter Prawnโ.
This plate of pasta had the perfect flavour mashup, nailing the sweet and savoury balance. Theyโre pretty generous with their ingredients as well & everything was well-coated with the aromatic blend of garlic, chilli, butter and cereal โ truly an explosion of flavours.๐ฅ
๐ Their Truffle Bacon Mushroom Farfelle ($17) was hearty and comforting. I loved the texture of the Farfelle and theyโre really generous with their ingredients! ๐๐ผ
๐ The Honey BBQ Babyback Ribs ($22) was great too! Fall-off-the-bone: CHECKโ๏ธ Fork-tender: CHECKโ๏ธ Well-seasoned: CHECKโ๏ธ
Thanks to Burpple Beyond, we paid 22 NETT in total for two mains. ๐คฉ So. Worth. It.
Iโll definitely come back to try the other mains! ๐ค
๐ฅ It looks unassuming, but for its price point, I would say that it was a fairly satisfying bowl.
I had a Half Fusilli Pasta, Half Salad base with Smoked Salmon, Baby Spinach, Wakame, Egg Mayonnaise, Avocado, Tobiko and Spicy Mayonnaise โ all for $12.
$27 for The Breakfast Works. Not worth it if you do not have Burpple Beyond (1-for-1).
โค๏ธ Loved the buttery toasted Brioche and the creamy texture of the scrambled eggs.
๐ Bacon was overcooked and a tad too salty (and dry) for my liking.
๐คฃ There was only ONE slice of โsmokedโ salmon (inverted commas cos TBH it just tasted like stale sashimi). For $27, I would definitely expect more, but since I was using Burpple Beyond, I have no complains!
โ๏ธ Coffee was amazing! We had a hot Mocha ($5.50) and a hot Vanilla Latte ($5.50). Full-bodied. Smooth. Loved it. ๐ฏ
I would definitely come back here for a satisfying cuppa, but for the food... I guess thereโs still some room for improvement!
๐ท๐I did not foresee myself enjoying the Pork & Pear Tartine ($20.9). I mean... bacon & pear?? Sounds like a hella odd combination ๐ง BUT I was pleasantly surprised by how well each of the ingredients complemented one another. (Though I must add that towards the end, the dish got a little too sweet for my palate)
๐ท๐ I loved the chewy texture of the Farro grains in the Miso Bacon Risotto ($23.50). Paired with fried enoki and bits of Miso Bacon, this dish was hearty and full of character (+ it definitely wasnโt as cloying as most risottos).
๐ Thought their Iced Mocha ($7.5) was rather disappointing. Tasted like an Iced Long Black with a dash of cocoa powder. ๐ Would probably appreciate it if it was less diluted (more milk, less water).
