Have previously reviewed the curry chicken, chap chye, and otah so I won’t be going into details, but all 3 were very enjoyable as usual. The omelette was nice and pretty homely tasting, with crunchy prawns in it. It’s decently sized too so it’s a great dish for sharing. Note to self to try the sweet and sour fish & ytf next time!
Slightly crisp on the outside, rather tender and easy to eat. The sauce could be tangier as I like sour stuff, but this is a p decent pork chop. I’ll skip this if I’m coming in a group of 2-3 (would rather order other items), but in a bigger group this is worth ordering!
I’m sorry this is such a bad pic but this was super good. Tasted v freshly fried and was crisp and bitter and wonderful. Highly recommend!!!
Stewed cabbage was soft and sweet, there was also black fungus and mushroom. Wished there was some beancurd skin & tanghoon tho. The zhup was flavourful yet quite light!
The sauce for this was flavourful, slightly spicy. Pork was slightly dry for certain chunks, a pity. Not the best buah keluak meat dish I’ve tried, but still rather tasty.
The pork belly slices were thicc, with lots of melty fatty parts. The lean parts were pretty tender! The potatoes were soft but not mushy, and sauce was savoury sweet, though it felt like there could be a slightly greater depth of flavour. I liked that it tasted home-cooked and healthy, not super salty! A pretty decent babi pongteh, wouldn’t mind trying this in-store next time.
This was v nice! They came looking like meatballs (I was expecting the ngoh hiang roll that is sliced) and were very tasty. Well-seasoned and meaty and juicy, with crunchy water chestnuts. It wasn’t very crisp probably bc it was a takeaway order, so I’m really excited to have it in-store next time. It also came with a pretty spicy chilli, and a savoury sweet black sauce that was v nice.
What a satisfying meal! Have been patronising curry wok for ~10 years now, and it doesn’t disappoint. The chap chye is delicious, and it comes with a thin and light but flavourful zhup. The curry was well balanced and not too heavy, and the spiciness was tolerable. Potatoes were soft yet firm (not mashy). The otah was really good! Bouncy, and some parts had chunks of flaky fish.
The youtiao was crisp and not oily, and stuffed with otah that was bouncy and tasty. I liked this a lot! The contrasting textures and good balance of flavours were great :)
The chap chye was highly favoured by my boyfriend, as the ingredients had absorbed all the flavour. I enjoyed it too, but I would have preferred if they gave some gravy or ‘zhup’. Still a good dish tho!
The Ayam buah keluak was decent, as the chicken was tender. However, we found it a little salty, and would have liked for more pronounced buah keluak flavour. Also, the achar served with the rice was really nice!
