Paddyfolks serves up customisable rice bowls for very value-for-money prices. For proteins, we got the oriental chicken and smoked duck ($1). The oriental chicken tasted rather similar to Hainanese chicken and the duck had a lovely smokey taste that paired well with the other ingredients. We also love how they have flavoured rice which is great for people who aren’t a fan of white and brown rice. Defo going to head back and try other combinations!

This Truffle Sukiyaki Don here cost just $12 and and we were pretty stunned by the price ourselves. We naturally assumed that the dish would be pretty meh because truffle sukiyaki for $12 is pretty ridonkulus but the food definitely exceeded our expectations! The tender sukiyaki slices that already has a lovely sweetness to it paired well with the earthiness of the truffle. We like how the truffle flavour wasn’t too in-your-face and cloying, so we managed to finish the entire thing without feeling jelat. Will definitely be back to try their other food 😋

We’ve been patronising them for years and they have never once disappointed us. They’re famous for their thick cut sashimi slices, with our favourite being the salmon! They also have a variety of other food such as teppanyaki, sushi, mentaiko scallops and ramen. .

Don’t expect restaurant quality dishes here but the food is satisfying enough for lunch. We LOVE LOVE LOVE their curry rice; portions are massive and the curry is not bad considering that it’s from a random Japanese stall in a Coffeeshop. .

We were proven very wrong at VeganBurg; the burgers here taste as good (if not better!) than your conventional meat burger and we are completely sold. Been there a few times already to try out a number of their burgers because we still can’t believe how good these taste! Tucked away at Tanjong Katong Road is Ah Hoe Mee Pok, a no-frills eatery that specialises in mee pok. What makes their mee pok standout from the rest are the premium ingredients that come in each and every bowl.

Their Signature Mee Pok ($6/$8/$10) is topped with a generous amount of sliced abalone (yes, abalone in a mee pok dish!) and comes with a bowl of soup that is chock full of ingredients such as prawns, fish cakes and minced meat.

Their Special Crayfish Noodle ($15/$20) comes with a massive chunk of crayfish; perfect for seafood lovers!

They also sell handmade fishball noodles for $6. •
Springy and slightly chewy, the noodles were cooked to a nice al dente and went well with each dishes respective ingredients. The sauce used in every fish was also packed full of umami and incredibly flavourful. We also appreciate how each bowl came with a generous amount of pig lard; our sinful obsession!
