I am back for more fishhead soup. The soup is my fave and to go orders. This time we also ordered the pork belly. You will definitely need to eat this dish with rice. Because the fermented beans are rather strong. Most folks would be happy with the taste. But I am cutting down on salt so I am accustomed to bland foods unfortunately for me.
The other reviews are not kidding. Their sweet potato milk shake is thick and creamy. If you are a fan of their roasted sweet potato, you gotta try this. Leave out the brown sugar it kinda clashes for me.
The soup needs no introduction. It's really delicious and thick. Don't be full by the portions which might look little if you are used to pigging out like those mala ala carte buffets. The portions here can really fill you up too without needing to refill the soup pot. Plus it's healthy.
The service staff are really friendly and attentive. The waitress took the time to explain the different types of soup bases. She even advised us against ordering too much food and she was right because we ate till we were really food and it was lucky we listened to her. Food wise I must admit that the place is pricy but it's a good quality soup which I will be willing to pay for because you do not get such good quality ingredients in a hotpot soup base in other cheaper places. What you get is quality good for health nutritious flavourful soups and the beef cuts and belly cuts were pretty tender. I order the fish maw premium soup and spicy soup base, snowflake beef, pork belly and naibai. Do note that the spicy soup packs quick a spicy punch. They are not kidding.
The standard of the food has deteriorated till it has become average to below average. There is nothing specially tasty about the food here. On top of that it's quite over priced. I ordered a bowl of plain porridge, some cabbage and 4 pcs of five spice roll and paid $5.80.
I ordered the waffles with a topping of smoked trout and scrambled eggs. It may look small but it quite filling. The waffles are soft not the crispy type but pairs well with the delicious generous fillings. I do wish they have more gluten free options that are non rice because some people who are gluten intolerant also need to avoid rice. People who are not gluten intolerant will find the food pricy because they won't be used to paying such amount to eat. But if u need are gluten intolerant and need a safe haven, this place is a god sent. I only wish its nearer my home so that I can indulge more often.
I bought the 350g mixture of chocolate chip, milo and the Earl Grey. My favourite is the Earl Grey its really fragrant and buttery. I prefer cookie mixx because its not overtly sweet and not too greasy. It has a nice homemade feel and I will certainly purchase again.
