SG: Cafes & Dessert
This one is a real treat yoself meal - tender seared flank steak topped with perfectly cooked onsen egg and fried garlic chips. Delicious, but pricey!
The ice cream here was worth the long trip to get here. Burnt Cones boasts various ice cream flavours from the basics like dark chocolate and earl grey, to Garrett’s popcorn and strawberry basil. All of them were not too sweet which I really appreciated because I’ve tasted some which were way too sweet for my liking, even as a sweet tooth.
They also have a few savoury/sweet food options like croissants, waffles and a big breakfast. Not bad but I’d rather save the stomach space for ice cream.
This is truly a little oasis and a neighbourhood gem. Very small place but thank God I was able to get a seat inside on a weekday afternoon. The iced latte came in a cute glass and tasted great, not bitter but fragrant. And the cafe plays soft jazz in the background which wins brownie points from me.
I got the Nutty Professor, Inquisitive Wanderer, Curious Merrymaker and Best Friend. I liked them all! The texture was just right for me, not too crunchy but soft and decadent.
Fudgey soft brownies with a rich gooey centre. Delicious but should ideally be shared, as it can get too sweet and cloying towards the end if you’re eating 1 by yourself.
The brookies were also worth mentioning, I had the Houjicha flavour and the flavour was just perfect. Not too much to overpower the chocolate taste but not too little that you can’t taste it.
While the price is pretty steep, I’d gladly return for more.
I was shocked by the size of this iced latte 😂 Love the aesthetics but not so much the portion.
The cafe was also clearly not meant for people to be working/studying in, they’ve taped all the wall plug outlets so people don’t stay long. Also it’s pretty crowded even during weekday afternoons, expect to queue for a while.
Both of these make for such a good tea time snack. The flat white was good - fragrant and not too bitter or acidic. The cream puff was crunchy on the outside and sinfully good on the inside. As a sweet tooth, this was the right sweetness for me.
A classic here at Atlas Coffeehouse. My favourite out of the dishes we had here. Poached salmon with shimeiji mushrooms, a sunny side up egg and soba noodles, accompanied with cilantro-lime nori yoghurt sauce on the side. Me being a sweet tooth, I liked the sweetness of the dish and the tang of the sauce that helps cut through some of said sweetness. A good balance of flavours.
Fresh strawberries and butter adorned on top of strawberry compote on top of hot cakes. Stacksss.
The maple syrup was honestly a welcome sweetness as the strawberries were kinda sour but at the same time lacking the depth of flavour fresh strawberries are suppose to have. The hot cakes while fluffy were a bit too thick for my liking.
Generous portion! Gets cloying after a while to be honest because the taste of the basil in the pesto is so strong. Not a bad thing for those who can’t get enough of basil but personally for me it was a bit too much.
Was there for the official reopening of Pantler at River Valley Road! We tried various cakes (in order of most favourite to least): Strawberry Shortcake, Black Forest, Citrus Blanc, Gianduja and Strawberry Tart. Cakes were not too sweet as well.
Truffle fries are allegedly one of the best in Singapore. They were really good! Generous with the Parmesan and truffle oil.
Big breakfast and fish & chips - nothing special, would skip it next time. Buttt the chicken penne was yummy and it was a pretty big portion as well.
