rich creamy nacho cheese, soft bacon strips and a thick hand-breaded fried chicken patty came together harmoniously to create a well balanced burger. however, despite the chicken’s crispy exterior that provided a satisfying crunch, i felt that it lacked taste while the cheese and bacon pulled everything together.

firstly i was a little thrown off by the price - $126 for 12 people seemed a little of a stretch to me for two duck platters and two plates of sides consisting of eggs, tofu, innards etc, as well as a bowl of yam rice and soup for each person.

while the gravy was thick and carried a herbal flavour, everyone also felt that it was too sweet in general, resulting in sweetness seeming like the only flavour profile of the dish. furthermore, the soup was also overtly sweet, which almost felt fake as it was impossible for mere cabbages to make the soup that sweet.

however, the duck meat was undeniably tender and fresh, and the sides and yam rice were executed pretty well too. i’d say go for their individual plates of duck rice ($5/plate) instead.

got the ovaltine and caramel lotus flavours ($6.90 each). i preferred the ovaltine flavour because the caramel lotus one was too sweet for my liking. despite that, i was glad that they were generous with the filling. the substantial amount of pearls provided a consistent chewy texture and paired well with both flavours. however, the bread threw me off - it was dense and almost rubbery :( maybe because i ate it a few hours after purchasing it? but overall, i wouldn’t buy it again because the price point is slightly high for a simple toast dish in my opinion.
