very typical breakfast food but the flavors worked really well together. wished that there was a bit more greens to reduce the greasiness of the spam, but lbr it wouldn’t had been half as nice if it was healthier.

the chicken thigh in hot chicks were super tender and we absolutely loved the combi of sriracha and spicy mayo. initially thought that the garlic bagel would be bagel baked with garlic powder but we were so wrong. there were chopped garlic which were baked till golden brown and added a strong aroma to every bite. the garlic one was a bit harder than all sorts which was a pity but it’s fragrance made up for it!! 11/10 will go back again!! tbh, the moment we finished our bagels, we’re already planning our next visit!!

the meat were first cooked with brown sauce and since we chose to have them spicy, the chef added chili padi based on our requests. the cut of the meat was good for its price! didn’t quite enjoy the seafood though the fish was really good. the salt for the veg was a tad heavy handed but it didn’t take away the natural sweetness of the veg and the joy of getting to eat warm food in front of us all the time! def a fun experience and a must visit if we’re visiting vivo again!

• my first time at swee choon (super late, i know) and i personally find it the best dim sum restaurant (taking price into consideration). swee choon served typical dim sum dishes that can be found in most restaurants at lower prices and relatively high quality. we loved everything other than the chili oil wanton and chee cheong fun. highlights of the meal were the swee choon mee-sua kueh, fried custard pumpkin & we can’t decide between har kow, beancurd prawn or carrot cake 🙈🙈🙈. def my fave no frills restaurant & the best news is that they’re delivery island wide now. whee~🥰🥰🥰

the highlight of the dish was always the rice! fluffy, fragrant and oily without being surfeiting. one of the rare times when we’ll want a second serving of carbs. the chicken was a hit or miss - there were days when it was perfectly cooked but also days when it was so dry thay we wanted to give up on it. but generally, it tasted amazing and i’m left craving for it every week. tried the pork chop this time round but it was quite disappointing. the meat was flattened and heavily battered till it was quite difficult to discern what meat we were having. guess we’ll be sticking to the chicken rice!!

the crust was light, airy & chewy (def different from what we remembered) and the turkey ham was a massive upgrade from chicken ham taste wise. absolutely loved the fact that the pineapple rings were only at the side so that they can be separated without much effort. currently, there’s a promo where you can get 4 piece drumlets when you register for a pizza hut acct so def super worth it!

food was good and the view was stunning.
the skirt steak was the signature but felt that it wasn’t as raw & soft as we would have liked it though we got the medium rare.

loved the iberico pork tomahawk!! there’s more fatty parts than we expected, but the fat was so well rendered and smooth to cut thru. it didn’t leave behind a greasy aftertaste & went so well with the sides!! the bread was more than amazing!!! if i ever go back, it’ll be more for the bread than anything else. it’s soft, warm, lightly salted and absolutely delicious 🤤🤤🤤 we ended up finishing the entire tray though we were so full cause of the mains.
def a place to go back too, and special shoutout to the nicest staff ever - jack. & did i mention that the view outside was stunning??

the blue cream and sprinkles made the drink look super magical & weirdly reminded me of frozen (or rather elsa’s dress). taste wise, it tasted like any other vanilla latte though the sprinkles added an interesting crunch to it. esp loved the starbucks at capital tower!! somehow it looked super vintage and if you imagined hard enough, it’ll feel like you’re really overseas having coffee on a cold winter day??

the smell of garlic oil was really fragrant and it made the soup so so rich!! karaka-men always had a soft spot in my heart even though it isn’t spicy enough. loved the slight hint of spiciness in the ramen which deviates from the usual miso based tonkotsu ramen which we were used to.
noodles were well-cooked as usual & the best thing was probs the fact that the broth wasn’t overly salty and we can finish half the soup without feeling sick of it.
the only thing we didn’t like was probs the pork. pork in japanese ramen always had a tendency to have a strong smell and this was no exception (albeit better than the rest). but nonetheless, still a shop we’ll go back to all the time! & isn’t it perfect for the rainy weather these days

the claypot rice was delicious; the meat was well-seasoned, rice was cooked nicely and the amount of sauce that the server added was perfect. however, there weren’t enough smoky taste to the rice which was a tad regretful. the otah omelette was super special!! there were bits of otah in every mouthful that we had and it wasn’t overly spicy so, very suitable for everyone. but it’s a bit too dense so probs won’t get it again unless we’re sharing with tons of ppl as it was way too filling. the tau suan though, was the best we ever had!! super fresh (the mung beans had a bit of a crunch in them), not overly sweet and served piping hot (till we burnt our tongue) it was so good that we can go back just for the deserts alone 🤤🤤🤤

calamari and the bread was def the star of the night!!! the calamari was lightly seasoned and the batter albeit soft was sufficiently crunchy. perhaps my standards are a bit low but most places that serve calamari are so horrible that this is pretty high on my list.
the bread were glorious. soft, fluffy, and warm. we’re willing to go all the way back just for the bread.
the mains were super lackluster on the other hand. the barramundi was super fishy at points and the mashed potato was hard (not jk). the fish and chips batter was soft (is it a trend by now) and completely unseasoned - in short, super unpalatable
