Desserts - The Sweet Side Of Life
Classic Southeast Asian (SG/MY/IND) dessert from a chain of hawker centre-based chendol stalls called Nyonya Chendol; this particular one pictured was from the Albert Centre hawker centre. Shaved ice, thick gooey gula melaka, azuki beans and don't forget the chendol. The chendol here feels fresh, natural and soft with a pleasant lingering aftertaste of pandan. $2 as pictured, or $1.50 without the beans. Will be back!
Peach & Rose Sorbet ($4.70 per scoop) - another delicately flavoured treat for the tastebuds from Birds of Paradise. 🥰
Thick, rich and quite dense, with a subtle yogurt like taste to it. Not the best I have tried but decent enough. The cheese cake get a little heavy after a few bites and it becomes pretty monotonous. The saving grace is the biscuit base which adds a different texture to the cheese cake.
Price: $38.90 for whole cake
👍🏻👍🏻
Disappointed, cannot quite taste the Oreo crunch which was soft and not quite like Oreo. Thought it’s a pretty safe choice but was left disappointed as there are many better versions out there. Avoid.
Price: $5.90

Ordered the Milo Dinosaur and Apple of my Eye (Apple Crumble), and turned out that the latter is the better of the two. It’s well balanced between sweet and tart, and tasted fresh with lots of texture to it which complemented really well with the cheese. As for the Milo Dinosaur, it tasted more like a cake and the flavor was a tad overwhelming and tasted more like an ordinary piece of cocoa cake. The Milo powder was a nice touch.
Price: $6.90 (Milo Dinosaur) / $5.90 (Apple
Crumble)

A wonderful bowl of the oh so familiar mango sago brings much needed respite in our warm humid weather. With the right balance of sweetness and tang, and fresh mango cubes this is the must get dessert from Ah Chew.
Smooth, but lack a depth of flavor and a tad too sweet. Not their best dessert by a mile though.
Nice subtle flavor in the white chrysanthemum ice cream and the thyme cone is to die for. Unfortunately the taste is over powered by the cacao bits which make it taste like a choco ice cream and you can’t taste the chrysanthemum flavor after the first few bites. Overall still a good ice cream!
Favourite go-to place for ice cream. Love that the flavours are always delicate and not too sweet. This peach & rose sorbet has a very balanced, rounded flavour that's just slightly tangy. $4.70 but be sure to get the thyme cone with $1 extra.
Signature Mille Crepe (bottom right) and Pistachio (top left), both $9.50 each, on a leisurely Friday afternoon. Decadently rich and sweet lashes of cream sandwiched between 20+ layers of delicate mille crepes.
