Nights Out In Town
(curried granita and carabinero) tasting menu $85++ (before 20% Singapore ReDiscovers discount) What. A. Treat. Simply fab value for a 7-course menu. There’s so many instances of fusion or modern food gone wrong; there was barely a misstep here. Each dish was nicely plated and the combinations of flavors worked a treat (I found the Biryani Nigiri, the carabinero, butter chicken, and their smoked yoghurt ice cream especially pleasing). Needless to say we enjoyed excellent service as well. The menu is constantly evolving so the items will vary.
+ a buzzing crowd at the most happening music joint in the east = what a Friday night!
Toasted egg yolk, caviar with herbs. $38. Gone in under 60 seconds. Delish though.
So many new openings in town! This city is buzzing. Love the beautiful feminine setting of this new restaurant for their first ever lunch service. Expectations were pretty high. A bit of teething issues on timing but as always am reminded that that’s the risk one takes for trying anything new. Dining companions were pretty pleased.
A restaurant is probably doing something right if they survive this long in Singapore. After a short hiatus, Pietrasanta has reopened at Fusionopolis and it was a packed first night of operations on 6 July 2019.
This Tomato carpaccio special was delish
The menu: Western Australian Marron + Sri Lankan Yellow Curry
Me: Yum.
An outstanding night from Chef Rishi Naleendra and team for just day 2 of operations. One of the best meals of 2019.
Ken (ex-Mitzo / ex-DB Bistro) is a bona fide magician. 5 cocktails, $14 each (promo / happy hour prices on weekends, until such time it changes; other promos for weekdays), All good - whether it was tea-infused or coffee-based cocktails (Stir Me Wide Awake pictured)
Some folks think Anthony might be the best in the business when it comes to classic cocktails ($20+). He could be. And he remembers your favourite drinks. What’s lesser know is that he serves oden that simply works, and fresh fruit based mocktails that are proper.
Grilled carabineros (prawns) laced with chili and garlic $69. Although the chili didn’t stand out, the base texture and sweetness of the prawns did (had them sashimi-style at New Ubin Seafood as well). On-point execution here.
Solo night out = BB11 (Basic Burger) $23 topped with an extra egg and a well-executed chocolate milkshake. There’s not much more that can be said about this burger that hasn’t already been written. Suffice to say the siren call of this beaut means I’ve eaten 14 burgers here in the last 6 months (the A5 special was killa). And I don’t really like visiting places that often. My calorie monster.
Chef Angus explained he was using a different cut on the hotate to change the 口感 / textures and tastes on the tongue. It worked for me. Their $80 lunch sushi set (including 10 pieces of nigiri sushi) is excellent value. Not to mention the very lovely decor (which apparently cos a tidy sum) and differs from the sparse and clean lines found in the more traditional sushiyas in town. If you have a celebratory occasion, let them know in advance, and they might prep something for you!
