When lunch hour in the CBD beckons, turn to this Oxley Tower joint for quality Japanese donburis. If you're not too hungry, the Basic Sashimi Rice Bowl ($13) is a value-for-money option. Otherwise, go for the fresh and generously portioned Sashimi Rice Bowl ($19), or the tender and flavourful River Eel Rice Bowl ($24), both of which come with a bowl of hot seafood broth. Pro-tip: Pour the broth over any leftover rice for maximum enjoyment.

Located on the ground floor of Intercontinental Hotel in Bugis, this snazzy bar with lovely service and a travel-themed menu serves elegant bar bites and 20 signature cocktails inspired by 10 cities on the Transatlantic route. Take the Journey of Limun for example, a fizzy blend of lemon and strawberry sherbet, bianco vermouth, bruto 'bitter' and prosecco inspired by Rome. Pair your drinks with the Fish and Chips ($18), featuring expertly battered cod fish fried to golden brown crunchiness and served with shakers of malt vinegar and salt.

Adding to Suntec City's collection of eateries is this build-your-own pasta house. The concept is simple – mix and match your dish from pasta type to dressing and toppings, or pick from an ala carte menu for a fuss-free meal. Fans of heavier flavours will appreciate the Supremo Porky Marinara ($15), where spaghetti is tossed in a rich and tangy marinara sauce, pork belly slices and a giant meatball. If you're in a rush, there's a range of open-faced toasts to take away, such as the fragrant Mushroom and Black Truffle Cream ($3).

If you're out and about the Farrer Park vicinity, give this casual burger joint housed in City Square Mall a whirl. Chances are, you'll be surprised by the quality here. The community's foolproof choice goes to the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger ($5.90) – think juicy and tender chicken fried in a crisp batter and drenched in a savoury salted egg sauce. Spice-lovers would appreciate the Spicy Fried Chicken Burger ($5.30), reminiscent of a McSpicy – but better, quality-wise. Portions are generous, so come hungry!

Take a souffle-loving date to this Duxton Hill spot, complete with casual chic decor that's bound to impress. Helmed by the brains behind L'Entrecote and Glasshouse by DHM, the menu features both savoury and sweet options – from a thick and flavourful Laksa Souffle ($26), to a citrusy Grand Marnier et Oranges Confites ($20), featuring a reliably airy and comfortingly soft souffle doused in orange liqueur and topped with candied orange.

Michelin-starred Konjiki Hototogisu Ramen has opened a new outlet at Paragon! Come for the two dishes exclusive to this outlet – the Iberico Shoyu Ramen ($15.90) and Crab Ramen ($15.90). The former is a heartier option, with shoyu-flavoured asari clam broth topped with sous vide iberico cha shu and saffron. The latter is subtler with crab broth topped with sous vide cha shu, sour cream and a housemade crab and tomato paste.

This cool cat – owned by the heads behind Birds of a Feather and Halcyon & Crane – is the place to be after work. Aside from their excellent food, the inviting space with warm lighting, stylish decor and an alfresco concept, is another reason to wishlist this Telok Ayer restobar. From their skewers, go for the umami Padron Pepper with Halloumi Cheese ($8) and the tender Szechuan peppercorn dusted Beef ($11). On drinks, the Bamboo Dream ($88, 9 cups), comprising fruity elements like yuzu, passionfruit and sweet fermented rice, is a refreshing pick.

Feeling peckish whilst shopping in Vivocity? Pop by this Korean baked sweet potato kiosk located in the basement of the mall for a quick snack or two. Run by a chirpy Korean family, their signature plump Sweet Potatoes ($2.90) are baked till soft and almost creamy on hot stones, and served warm – no added sugar or honey. You can also opt to get the Set ($7.20), where one sweet potato comes with a creamy cup of sweet potato latte (sweet potatoes blitzed with full cream milk) topped with cinnamon powder.
