Omg where has this been in my life? I love seafood and pork dumplings but can't seem to find them in Singapore. But this is a hidden gem, very, very yummy! The steam ones were really good too. Had their hot and sour soup, plus veggie. What a wonderful meal!
Very straightforward menu - dry or soup noodles. Opted for dry mee tai bak, Al dente but wished it had more flavour. The fishballs were good but definitely the star of the show is the fish dumplings. Very flavourful and good meat to skin ratio. Yums!
Surprisingly the soup was not pungent with coriander flavour! I'm totally adverse to Chinese parsley or coriander but this soup was good. All the elements in the rice bowl worked together but I felt the ikan bilis really elevated the mixture in terms of the saltiness plus crunch. Hits the spot when you want a nice bowl of thunder tea rice.
Had the soto betawi, Nasi Bali and siomay.
Nasi Bali was good! The little portions of dishes had more flavours and spice VS my soto betawi. Siomay recipe definitely had more flour than fish meat, even the peanut sauce couldn't mask it.
If you're craving for Indo flavours then this will do, but if you want legit, in-your-face flavours... This is not the spot. Decor wise it's cute though! Casual joint, inexpensive for town standards and run by real Indonesians too.
