Little Japan
Located at a random corner of the dodgy shopping mall, the restaurant serves generous serving of delicious chirashi don ($26). The fish slices are so thick, at least twice the thickness of the typical sashimi. And they taste so fresh! The chirashi don had a great variety of fishes and scallops, and it leaves you feeling so satisfied. Kudos to the Chef!

We had high expectations for the noodle chain.

We ordered the Shoyu soba and pork belly rice. The ramen came with the usual flavoured egg and bamboo shoots, and topped with truffle purée. The truffle purée gave the soup a different dimension, which was surprisingly palatable. However, the rest of the dish felt just like any other typical ramen. I have definitely tasted better ramens.

Located at L4 of Bugis+, Omurice Keisuke has really cheap Omurice that comes with your choice of sauce. There is almost always a queue though, and the shop is rather small, not sure if it’s worth the wait. Nevertheless, very value for money!
Really enjoyed my first visit to Genki Sushi. At 2pm, there was still a queue outside the restaurant. We waited for about 20mins for seats. Food was delivered fast via their signature train, and all the items were so yummy! Extremely value for money, no wonder there is always a queue! Genki is opening another outlet at Westgate in April, I will probably dropped by that outlet soon.
Decided to give rakki bowl a try, as it had pretty good ratings. I had the small Salmon don (~$13), which was really small in portion. The salmon was fresh and it was a pretty decent donburi. My friends had the truffle wagyu don (~$13). The truffle taste was way too strong.
Overall a cheap and decent place, but not one of the best.
Interesting experience at Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen at JEM. Soup is poured into the stone bowls and the funnel is placed on top for the smoke to exhaust. It’s more of a gimmick, but the ramen also tasted not too bad. Free side dish during lunchtime. Portions are really huge so don’t go for the large bowl unless you are starving...
Walking distance from beauty world MRT, Ajiya Okonomiyaki specialises in okonomiyaki. They even allow customers to DIY their own! Besides the okonomiyaki, I really love the potato cheese mentai, which has a generous serving of cheese and is served on a sizzling hot plate.
Had great expectations for this restaurant given the high ratings, but the donburis were too small in portion and nothing spectacular. What stood out was the Wham! Fries which are sweet potato fries dipped in cream cheese and marshmallow! It doesn’t get better than this!
