Nice cup of matcha green tea latte! 🍵🍵 Not too sweet with a nice tinge of matcha bitterness, but wished that it came in a bigger cup! Limited indoor seating but plenty of outdoor seating with WiFi and water provided! Also, there’s a $20 voucher for $13 on chope as well 👍🏻👍🏻
Fork-pull-apart level of soft tender meat that was flavoured so beautifully with red wine jus. Loved the complementary sides that helped to tie the whole dish together - beetroot chunks, pickled potato and fried shallot! 😋😋 Really love the flavour of the meat though I’ve had more tender meat elsewhere, but this was definitely a nicely done beef short rib! Favourite dish here is still the Iberico Pork Tomahawk, and love the prompt service and casual chill vibes of this bar-restaurant! They’re sometimes on Chope Exclusives with 50% off, or get 1-for-1 with entertainer! 👍🏻👍🏻
Fyr never disappoints and they continue to impress me with every dish even on my third visit 😭😭 This was a really well done lamb rack, not in terms of meat doneness (evidently from that raw pink middle) but in terms of how they made the gameyness of a meat like lamb into a plus point instead of a repulsive factor?? Lamb was so succulent and juicy with lamb jus, topped with green crispy millet and a side of ratatouille! 🤤🤤 Favourite dish here is still the Iberico Pork Tomahawk, and love the prompt service and casual chill vibes of this bar-restaurant! Yummy yummy yummy! 😋😋 Loved the thick chewy udon in their sauce that’s not too heavy to be jelat nor too light to be lacking in flavour! Slides of roast beef was nicely prepared with just the right sliver of fats and redness, while maintaining the thinness of each slice 🤤🤤 A definite plus point has to be their free flow salad and drinks bar that comes with a huge variety of raw vegetables (edamame, beetroot, zucchini, corn and many other usual veggies) that are uber fresh and lovely with their homemade warm sauce (and many other japanese sauces including sesame kewpie!), soup (minestrone) and legit green tea. What’s more it’s such an amazing deal with chope/Burpple, so definitely do give this a try 👍🏻👍🏻
This dish really grew on me the more I ate it 🤭🤭 the Mentai was pretty salty but the fusion of the perfectly done onsen egg, Mentai dollops and roe really complemented the udon so well! (Though the Udon was nothing to shout about) The salad bar looked a little sad at first, but on closer inspection, there were so many fresh ingredients and sauces to choose from! Spinach and lettuce were provided as base, with other raw vegetables like corn, edamame, red/green/yellow peppers, radish, carrot, celery, beetroot, zucchini, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, kelp. But the most effort goes to their sauce, with the warm Bagna Cauda dressing (olive oil-based with other goodness), and other like Japanese plum sauce and kewpie sesame sauce. Drinks were quite decent too with water, orange juice and hot beverages like coffee and green tea (legit matcha powder based ones), and minestrone soup with croutons and fruits (green apple, orange, grapes) was available too. Definitely a very value meal for simple udon and will definitely fill you up while still leaving you feeling healthy and happy 😋😋 PSA: Burpple Set doesn’t come with the salad bar, so unless you wanna try sth that is not on their Chope set list (Oyako Salmon Udon, Seafood Carbonara Udon, Roast Beef Uni Udon, Mentai Egg Udon, Uni Truffle Udon), go for the Chope set definitely!
Though seemingly small and unassuming, actually quite impressed by this little hotel restaurant?? Situated at the ground floor of Hotel Bencoolen, this place serves simple affordable udon with a free flow salad bar. Tried their Uni Truffle Udon and loved the truffle-infused sauce! Udon was nothing to shout about (very normal, not that QQ/chewy) and the uni tasted quite bleh but the sauce really carried the dish far and wide! Topped off with explosive ikura, this was quite a satisfying meal 🤤🤤 The salad bar looked a little sad at first, but on closer inspection, there were so many fresh ingredients and sauces to choose from! The cream initially really overpowered the pistachio layers, but this is the exact kind of cake where the-more-you-eat-the-more-it-grows-on-you 💕💕 The pistachio layer was actually really nice, bursting with pistachio flavour and adding a nice crunch, and nicely brought together by the interspersed layers of cream 😋😋
This actually really surprised me?? 😱😱 The dense pound cake was packed even more densely with lemony goodness with the perfect balance of sweet and sour with every bite 🍋🍋 The icing glaze on top was pretty sweet, and the cake was definitely good enough without the icing on top 😌😌
Pretty on point in terms of taste and presentation! Wished that three bread could be fluffier and bread skin less dry, but the 2 thick pieces of toast were actually so nicely caramelised and generously stuffed with custard cream (that was perfect and not too cloying) 🤤🤤 With chantily cream and some berries, this dish was definitely worth its price (especially with chops’s 35% off voucher). Cafe ambience was very nice as well, and service was quick with self-service water 👍🏻👍🏻
Definitely something Devon Cafe might serve (in terms of tiny portions too lol). Buckwheat pancakes were very normal and not at all impressive in fluffiness nor taste. Did appreciate the toppings of smoked salmon, hollandaise glazed sous vide eggs, marinated ikura and fried kale (though could be crispier and better flavoured) which made it a more complete meal, but definitely not impressive enough as a dish for a small portion at a high price. Ambience is definitely on point though they have much to work on in terms of food and pricing (but thankfully there’s 35% off with Chope to offset wew) 🙄🙄
Generous slab of beautifully seared salmon nicely browned on the sides while retaining the moisture of the salmon fresh within 🤤🤤 The mentaiko sauce went really well with this one with the crisp and flavourful salmon and a bed of warm rice! The rice was a little drier than their wagyu beef bowls due to the lack of egg, but overall still a good rice bowl! Especially with the Chope deal that comes with 5 slices of salmon sashimi, free flow of cabbage salad (with kewpie sesame yaaas) and hot green tea! Personally prefer their beef bowls over their seafood bowls, but my bf begs to differ 😂😂 Either way their rice bowls are generally pretty good and definitely worth a shot 👍🏻👍🏻
Waa!! Waa Cow truly never fails to deliver since I first tried it 3 years back 👍🏻👍🏻 Thick juicy slices of wagyu beef glistening with their signature beef glaze atop warm Akitakomachi rice topped off with a perfectly done onsen egg and tobiko roe 🤤🤤 Could have done without the spicy mentaiko sauce cause the beef and egg combination was enough for me 😌😌 But the sauce definitely helped to add another depth of flavor to the whole dish, and a very good beef bowl indeed! Coupled with the $15 Chope voucher that comes with 5 slices of sashimi, free flow cabbage salad (with kewpie sesame sauce yum!) and hot green tea, this was truly a satisfying meal 💯💯
