CHINESE FUD

As we usually order the same dishes, we know that their price was much cheaper!! $17 as compared to $25ish for our usual order - pork, lucheon meat, sausage, magiee and etc 🤡 The flavour was more salty than usual (but still within my acceptable range 🤡) Their xiao la was just nice for me!

Does it taste like DTF's version? Unfortunately, no. DTF must have their own secret receipe that is not easy to replicate; and especially difficult since the pricetag here is just a fraction of the original. It was still a good plate of Fried Rice nonetheless! Pork Ribs were the star of the show with how tender and flavourful it was.
Dumplings were okay. There was another version that was fancier looking. We only realized after seeing that version on other people's table.

In chinese it's called 东北饺子王 which roughly translates to Dumpling King 😱 So is it deserving of its title? I would say it was okay. It was very very juicy actually but tastes just like an average dumpling~

We were debating on our options before settling for Mala since it has been awhile. Variety is great, all our usuals are available! The only downside was that their version was oily towards the bottom (as compared to our favourite Mala in Bedok Hawker Centre). Still was a not-bad Mala option!

Signature Platter ($16.80)
This platter consist of Char Siew and and Deep Fried Pork. Char Siew is on the sweeter side. Their Deep Fried Pork is perfecto! It taste similar to Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken (盐酥鸡). Can't stop poppin' them into my mouth!

Salted Egg Clam ($9.90)
The scene-stealer!!! Didn't know Clams and Salted Egg work so well till we had this! This was creamy, fragrant with big chunks of Salted Egg Yolk!

Superior Chicken Stew w/ Fish Maw ($8.90)
This is a bowl of goodness! Soup was lighter in flavour in comparison to the BKT. Buddy was telling me to eat more fish maw and drink more soup as it helps in complexion. Would have liked this dish more if the soup was piping hot when served.

Classic Bak Kut Teh ($6.50)
Classic bowl of BKT! My kind of BKT is the peppery kind and that was KOON's version too. Pork ribs were fall-off-the-bone T E N D E R. Soup is refillable, for all ya soup lovers!

Modern Braised Meat Rice ($8.90)
A twist to the original Braised Meat Rice. Honestly, i prefer the original version because i don't like tomatoes 😅

I AM!! We had a feast on a Tuesday night, courtesy of Fu Xiang 🥳

My favourite dish of the night was their Chicken Biscuit Curry ($6.80) - the Chicken was fried till perfection! Together with a bowl of rice, i was ready to wipe the whole plate clean 🤭

Buddy favourite's dish was the Sambal Crispy Pork ($6.90). There's this spicy kick to the Crispy Pork that was irresistible! I did feel that this was a little too spicy for my weak tummy though.

Their Emperor Cream Sauce Chicken ($6.90) was buttery with flavours that tastes like salted egg but nope, no salted egg at all!

Lastly, their famed Chicken Curry that is plastered everywhere on social media! Curry was thick and rich that goes perfectly with a bowl of rice!

Chicken Cutlet was tender and crispy while the curry was thick and flavourful. The downside would be their rice which i feel was quite hard. Do ask for more sauce as i didn't have enough! 😋

I usually have their you mian or mee hoon kueh in either normal ($3.50) - sweet and savory; or tom yum ($4.5) - spicy and savory. Expect long queues during lunch hour but it is definitely worth the wait! 😋

What i ordered differently from usual is the swee choon mee-sua kueh! It was surprisingly delicious (considering how i was adamant in trying) - crispy & salty and when dipped in chilli sauce, it was the star of the show 😋
