Old Airport Road Food Centre has been known for having lots of great food with a variety of cuisines. We decided to try their don for something different and uncommon for a hawker centre setting.
For $5 it came with a huge slab of chicken and a good amount of rice. The presentation had good effort for hawker centre Japanese food too. The taste was not as delicious as how it looks though but for the price point it was still pretty decent.
The Kushiyaki skewers are definitely a must try when you are here. We ordered a variety of dishes including their udon, curry and sashimi but what really stood out was eventually their skewers. Grilled over a special charcoal in high temperature, the unique smoky flavour was really infused into the ingredients. I especially enjoyed the ebi and the nikuzume shiitake that was so juicy and fragrant. The taste derived from the charcoal was nothing like I had before, highly approved!
One of the best from the experience at Shin Kushiya, the beef was grilled to the perfect level that was not too tough. The meat was also juicy and once again, captured the essence of the charcoal.
Unagi sushi has always been one of the classics that I undoubtedly order when I'm in for some sushi fix. This particular one at Itacho Sushi is probably my favourite by far! A thick slab of the fish coated with that glistening savoury sauce makes every bite a highly pleasuring one. Expensive price point at $3.20 but oh well that was sure worth it.
