Japanese ('cos it's always safe)
Hidden on the seventh floor of orchard central, this ramen stall doesn’t enjoy the footfall of some of its competitors in orchard. So it means something when the place is fully packed during lunchtime. The broth here is thick and rich and that black garlic oil gives it an umami kick. And who can resist 1-for-1 beers at $9 to douse the heat from that piping hot ramen. Definitely one of the best value for money ramens around.
A fairly big but flat slice salmon with an equally big layer of mentaiko sauce that blanketed the entire salmon. Comes with an oozy egg as every Japanese don should. Tasty for a quick and affordable meal.
Located in an unassuming spot in the basement of suntec City amidst food chains and small food kiosks. Good for 2 (tiny) eaters as they claim on the menu or IMO, 1 hungry eater. Id consider this good value for money for the quality and quantity. Definitely aestheically pleasing too.
But from now til 30 September, you can pre purchase this from their website at half price, which was a steal for this crazy rich Asian broth, pun intended. Luscious thick golden broth packing an intense umami punch. They even turn it into a porridge for you with the remaining broth after.
Wouldn't have tasted the genmaicha myself but now that you've told me, yes I do. Generous slices of smoken salmon that were so nicely cured and thankfully not overly salty.
Who would think of pairing foie with ox tendon? But this turned out to be the best dish of the evening. Perfectly braised tendon and equally meltique foie gras. Total recipe for foodgasm.
Reasonably impressed by this new this izakaya by TungLok. This don came with tasty slices of beef and a juicy slab of foie gras reminiscent of a rather popular beef don brand.
Loved this no frills dish with the best ingredients. Funny how we have no qualms having a near $50 dish out of a cardboard container #onlyinCB
Only available at the great world city outlet, this great ramen was out of this world. The broth was superb; rich, creamy and a total umami bomb. Ramen places here should really start experimenting with such ingredients.
The only thing that brought me here was the booth dining, for the sake of reliving my Ichiran experience back in Japan. Sadly the ramen here was nothing to shout about with the broth being rather one-dimensional. Also didn't expect the cheese ramen to come with literally a slice of cheddar cheese.
Dont be deterred by the price at first glance. This bowl comes with a medley of premium ingredients: bluefin tuna otoro, hokkaido uni, negitoro and minced tuna. Everything was fresh and tasty, making this a super value for money bowl. Niningashi is a gem of an izakaya you don't want to miss out on.
They claim to be Japan's number one mazesoba, and if so, this can't be their original standard. When I have noodles, there's only 2 things I focus on and that's the noodles and the sauce. The noodles could do with a bit more spring to the bite and they could've gone easy on the oil in the sauce. But still quite an affordable filling option for dinner out.
