Highly recommend the satay here. We went for the 10 piece meat (no intestines or whatsoever), and the texture was really awesome. Noodles was kolo-mee style, quite springy and generally value for money. I’ll return to this place for the satay and ambience. And perhaps to try a few other Indonesian style items.

Truly a hidden gem as suggested by all the other reviews. Not sure if it’s the virus situation or what, we were the only customers on a Saturday night :/

This sea bass was so well executed and I loved the slight twist to the dish which was the shellfish bisque that was really tasty. The potato also I believed had strands of crabmeat hidden so fine, can’t really see it but can feel the texture is a bit different.

Also ordered the very addictive truffle fries, sautéed spinach with tomatoes and tender and well marinated brick chicken. Must say that for a small restaurant, the number of side dishes offered is very substantial. Saw a couple more that I wanted to try like the broccoli and sweet potato fries, till the next visit then! Keep going, we have to support small establishments in the west like this!

It’s located not within Ayer Rajah community centre, but the building beside. Got a little lost trying to locate it.

Mui Kee needs a bigger space because it clearly has a strong following here in sg. Ordered the parrot fish porridge but it was unavailable but they replaced it with the grouper. The porridge is so different from other places because you could seriously taste the wok hei from the fish. The congee itself is not really like the crystal jade kind but it was still very fine and went well with the ingredients.

Another favourite of mine is featured here, the cheong fun with mixed mushrooms. Mushrooms add a great texture to the smooth CCF. Would definitely return to Mui Kee and I am very very keen to try the claypot items (only available for dinner).

This spize outlet has such a great ambience especially if you pick the seats that overlooks the pool. Makes it so great to chill out. Had this Nasi Goreng Seafood that doesn’t scrimp on the seafood - there were four big mussels, squid, fish, crab meat and a big prawn. Sauce was sweet and sour as described. But thinking back, I think I still prefer my nasi goreng to be more savoury so I’ll go for another option next time instead.

‘Upgrade’ from usual tze char establishment, Enjoy has a good variety of options to choose from. I enjoyed (no pun intended!) everything we ordered, in particular this rich otah stuffed with lots of seafood, just look at the size of this otah.

The grandma te-kah bee hoon was my other favourite. Can taste the wok-hei and also the pork was well marinated, no ‘porky’ smell and went well with the vermicelli. I wouldn’t mind coming back to fish items and more appetizers on the menu. Service was prompt as well and the old school vibes of the place went really well with the type of food served.

Really worth it meal with Burpple Beyond. Paid 60 plus for 5 mains and 2 drinks.

Cosy place for sure, and for healthy bowls, I think it’s pretty great on flavour.

I had the garlic rice topped with salmon, broccoli, crab stick, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms.

My mom and sis had their set meal which comes with a drink and sides (gyoza/corn soup or truffle fries to share). Their drinks are v v worth it. The avocado smoothie doesn’t taste like those in your usual hawker centre, it’s really smooth and light with almond flakes. And their barley drink is super refreshing with cooked barley and honey I suppose. One for one set meal deal using Burpple. But can only choose from the standard menu, cannot DIY your own bowl but still a great deal nonetheless.

Love this hidden gem in the west and I’m sure to come by if I’m around the area.

Salmon Ochazuke has a light broth, what my friend terms japanese porridge. It’s a little bit of an acquired taste and could be more for those with a light palette. I love the Tamago Sando which is a good mix of sweet and savoury with the pear sauce. The tamago is fluffy and makes a hearty sandwich despite it being just eggs. Managed to redeem one for one on Burpple beyond for the two mains. Not applicable for the pancakes though!

I’m hoping that flagwhite is able to stay in this space which is perpetually changing ownership.

Smoothie came with oat milk on default. I had the blueberry one at 8 bucks and oat milk was distinct, good for those who prefer a less milky taste. The hazelnut cake was good also and I’ve heard many reviews that they brew a mean cup of coffee.

Packed on a Sunday afternoon, I would return to try the other tarts/cakes and the sides smell pretty good as well.

Other than the legendary cheesecake which was oozing with cheese, I really liked this pulpo dish with crispy pork belly on potato foam (which basically feels like very very smooth mash) with caramalised onions. Pulpo was well cooked and pork belly was not the super fatty type. Usually something like this could border on being salty but this really wasn’t, especially with everything mixed together.

The restaurant was very thoughtful and portioned it to two portions for my friend and I.

This slab of pork chop is really cooked to perfection. Doesn’t lose the texture on the outside but super tender on the inside and melts in your mouth. Paired with pumpkin purée and busses sprouts. It’s really not easy to cook such a big slab of meat well but summer hill really does a good rendition. 42 bucks but I would pay to eat this again! No GST and no service charge here for now.

Salad with marinated tomatoes and ricotta on top. Very refreshing and the tomatoes are so sweet. Great way to start the meal! A little pricey at 16 though.

Great great burrata with great texture and really felt super fresh. Went super well with everything on the plate - the salad, the sun dried tomatoes (sweet), pumpkin and also the cured ham. Great appetizer to share between 2 to 4 people! Had the barramundi which was packed with seafood and gnocchi, chewy with a light creamy sauce.

Rubato is hidden at Greenwood Avenue but the crowd doesn’t shy away. Will be back to try more mains.

Eat eat eat repeat! Perpetually thinking about my next meal 😌
