Lunch Tabao
The basic Nasi Lemak. Simple and tasty, just right for a quick lunch.
I wanted to try their Lor Mee but it was always sold out. Gotta go before 1pm I think. So I got my default fav and added Ngor Hiang to comfort myself. The Ngor Hiang was really good. Will always add this next time. Noodles were dried out by the time I got home, so the prawn soup was a life saver.
These Hakka Abacus seeds were from the Hougang Nonya Kueh stall but not part of the 3 for $10. I’ve never had these before and I must say they were very very delicious. Soo Q soo chewy. Perfectly seasoned with lots of mushrooms. A bit oily but so flavorful. The garlicky taste was just beautiful. I’m a new fan.
Hailing from Taiwan, this Lu rou fan from Paradise Gastronomy had braised meat, preserved vege and one boiled egg. I bought it home for late lunch and it was still good. Not a lot of gravy, which made the rice a bit dry. The rice was on the soft side. I didn’t like the meat fat ratio. Too fatty. And there were random pcs of pork skin. Quite jelat after a while. Would have been nice if the meat were bigger pcs for more chew. They diced it quite fine. The vege provided a nice crunch. Also got fried shallots which I liked.
From Paradise Gastronomy. This was part of the $6 set consisting of Lu Rou Fan and fried chicken. Chicken was very average. The mayo sauce had a sourish taste almost like plum sauce so it tasted a bit weird.
This was from Hougang Nonya Kueh and part of the 3 for $10. The rice was very soft and carried savory notes that went well with the haebi hiam. Fragrant too. But rice to haebi ratio was not good. Too much rice.
I love to tabao their chicken big bao for lunch. 5 mins of steaming will gimme delicious bao with juicy and tender chicken thigh meat. And my fur baby adores the bao skin that I peel for her.
Tabao this for lunch, and it was indeed the right choice. Thick spicy gravy with soft potatoes and boneless chicken thigh inside. The gravy was awesome. Such rich flavors, with a smokiness to it that I couldn’t find anywhere else. The chicken thigh pcs were well seasoned and tender, almost as if they used tandoori chicken for this. Definitely one of a kind chicken curry.
