Oyster Paitan Ramen ($15.90), Chawanmushi with Oyster Paste ($5.90). I love oysters, both cooked and raw, so I was surprised that I didn't enjoy either of these dishes. I really wanted to like them 😕 Flavours were just too funky for me
Garlic fried rice topped with roasted eel and served in a hot stone bowl. Came with miso soup on the side
Had fun deciding what to order from their huge, varied menu. Sukiyaki was too salty, but that was fixed by adding some hot water. Yummy!
Really enjoyed this! Hamburg was so tender. We went around 830pm on a weekday. While there was no line, many items on the salad bar had run out by then.
This was just alright. We found the steak a little tough. Better bet would be the signature Hamburg!
Could taste the chicken and clams in the broth, but neither flavour was very pronounced. Was just alright. Sad thing was that there was just one clam in the entire bowl. Topped up $1.50 for the ramen egg.
Meh bowl of ramen. Soup has vinegar in it, which puts a totally different spin on the broth. While it does cut through the fat and make the soup less heavy, my ramen craving is still not satisfied. Comes with a little dish of ebi la-yu to add for spice.
Part of a seasonal menu. Loved the foie gras sauce on the pork belly! It was earthy, savoury and delicious. The pork belly itself could definitely be more tender. The capellini, served aglio olio style with sautéed mushrooms and cherry tomatoes, was tasty too.
Part of a seasonal menu. Thin pork belly strips fried till crispy, this was so sinful! I wasn’t really a fan, but my bf really enjoyed it. Came with a curry mayo dipping sauce that was pleasant, though I couldn’t really make out the curry flavour.
A light appetizer. The silky texture of the tofu contrasted nicely with the chewy potato starch coating, and the little bit of crispness from the deep frying. The mushrooms felt slimy to us, and we ended up leaving them in the bowl.
Came with ebi yasai kakiage and half an onsen egg. Got the baby bear spice level 3 and the Japanese soup base. I think it was the wrong choice, the broth did not taste like curry, just peppery. I’m not a big eater and the portion was smallish, even to me.
Broth fell a little flat for me, but the duck slices were good, and the noodles were springy. They let you choose between thin and thick noodles (I went for the thick).
An alright bowl of ramen, if u’re in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for this.
