Copenhagen
Can't come to Copenhagen without at least having a glogg. Available pretty much everywhere, cafes, Christmas markets, restaurants, street food carts, you name it! Liked the spiciness of this, but then it reminded me of a hot Spanish sangria. You could amp it up with rum or gin (they handed out samples and it was STRONG, wasn't really feeling like having a ton of alcohol that day though)
Popular at the Christmas markets. Decided to give this a go, pretty decent pancakes, felt like the batter had bits of cinnamon and vanilla in it.
Had this at Copenhagen Street Food, really popular one so best go early before they sell out. Tender and lean pulled pork, topped with pickled veggies, bbq sauce and hot sauce. They were certainly generous with the portion of pork! Loved that the bun was really soft too.
That feeling of finally finding a spot for healthy eats but it's your last day in Copenhagen! Dang. Still highly recommend this place. Omelette as wrap, tons of veggies, moist chicken breast cubes, crunchy almonds, slattered with pesto and avocado - totally my kinda food these days. Had the Beetroot, carrot, lemon juice too which was made fresh on order and was really fab!
A colourful platter of everything! Hole in a wall cafe that's popular with locals. Sorta stumbled onto this and ordered one of their signature brunch sets, which was really good! On hindsight, should have gone with the vegan one since I don't eat sausages and bacon.
Finally veggies! Forgot how meaty and bready & processed Europe food can get!
For really awesome pizzas and service, head to Gorm's. Recommended to try one of their signatures and I loved the combination of tangy tomato base, rosemary & pesto, as well as the really good parma ham. Pizza base is the thin crust type. Be warned though, place is mobbed at dinner time. I hadn't had anything since the flight so walked in for an early dinner around 5pm. Do make reservations if you plan to go at actual meal times.
Never truly had a hot chocolate until I had this! Stuff heaven is made of! Intensely rich dark hot chocolate topped with chocolate whipped cream. Almost expected it to be sickly sweet but it was surprisingly bitter, not too heavy, yet the chocolate shone through. The whipped cream was only mildly sweetened as well. Certainly recommended for peeps who love their chocolates bitter and never sweet.
