Haven’t had this in a long while. Still as good as I remembered. The prawns were the best. Jumbo sized encased in crispy tempura batter. Sauce for the rice was always not enough, so remember to get extra at the stall.

Very happy to try a new tendon but overall I felt this was quite average. I did enjoy it, but there was nothing impressive yet also nothing to complain abt. Not much could go wrong with fried food. Food tasted fresh thou. My friend got the one with fried eel. I took a bite of it. Hmmm I’m not enthusiastic abt eel and this eel did absolutely nothing to change my mind. I thot it was quite tasteless. I still prefer Ginza and Kohaku.

I’ve always gone to the one at Boat Quay so I thot I would try it here for comparison. I ordered my usual spicy bowl. Took abt 30mins. I had already finished my Tokyo Sundubu stew and modanyaki while waiting so I was very full.

It looked great. And it came with miso soup, which I didn’t get at the Boat Quay branch. The items were the same. But somehow it wasn’t as spicy. I shared this bowl with hubby and still managed to get a sore throat the next day.

My Ikkyu dry ramen was sold out so I decided to try this super big chicken katsu don. This is the reason I have to miss Hawker Omakase night! 😢 I ignored the suspicious itch in my throat and listened to my stomach instead. This katsu was nicely fried. The sauce provided tasted of miso and flavored the katsu very well. I added the gravy eggs with onion for $2.
Katsu + tendon = sore throat and fever.

I was asked if I wanted to add eggs for $2. Eggs scrambled with onions in gravy like oyakodon. Of cos I want! The eggs made the rice more savory. But the prawns definitely fell in ranking. I used to think this was the best tendon, but the previous 2 times I ate this, the batter was thick and hard. I even hurt my gum biting into it. This time was no different. I dunno what went wrong but if they keep this up, I won't eat this anymore. Congratulations Kohaku, you are number one again.

I am absolutely in love. I never thought I could find another tendon that could beat Kohaku but I did. Their spicy crab sauce was no good but this jumbo prawn tendon was the stuff dreams were made of. Very crunchy, huge and satisfying. But be warned: the prawns were arranged in such a way that they could topple and fall off. Mine did. One fell to the floor while I was trying to move it. The man behind the counter watched dispassionately as I stared at my jumbo prawn with tears in my eyes. I had a nightmare that night. Oh, and the rice was inconsistent. Sometimes it was perfect and other times it was soggy and soft.

Come early or late, or you will find yourself breathing cigarette smoke from the store next door. Unpleasant for non smokers and hazardous for people with rare smoke allergy like me. Last night at 7.45pm, the queue was so long it spilled out onto the road. After waiting half an hour, 2 girls came to stand literally 2 steps from me and one lit up her cigarette, blatantly ignoring the people forced to breathe in her 2nd hand smoke. I have queued here many times and never had this happened before. Do I leave or do I stay? And why is she smoking next to a queue of people when half the street is empty? And how do you tell a smoker to bugger off without getting your ass kicked? 🤔
Fortunately, the very yummilicious spicy tendon lifted my spirits and restored my good humor. Remember to add extra tendon sauce and chili flakes provided on the table for extra oomph!
I love the tendon here, but next time I see a long queue, I may have to reconsider.

I thought I would much prefer the one at Kohaku cos it's spicy but I was wrong! The egg!!! Oooh it was cooked perfectly! I absolutely hate undercooked egg white cos it looks like mucus. Not this one! The white was firm but the yolk was fabulously runny!!! I was so inspired I even took a video of the egg haha. So I added chili powder (a lot!) and pretended it was spicy tendon. Worked for me. Hubby usually sniffs at tendon but he has been asking for it ever since Kohaku. I wonder if I can order extra egg...

First time I have ever heard of spicy tendon. Of cos gotta try! I was afraid it would be a shilly-shally type of spiciness but it really kicked me in e face. Fell in love at first bite! It's spicy, it's fried, what's not to love?
