When the going gets tough, the tough get going - on Dumpling feast! 🥟 It is suitable for changing climate: 🌧 or 🌞. Each Dumpling is packed with pork & cabbage. Once bitten, the soup is oozing in a right proportion with the filling. The spicy sauce is quite mild for us but spicy enough to validate the dish. One bowl has 10 pcs of Dumpling and will definitely make you full!! 😄🍜
Another must-ordered dish if you love spicy food like us. Nicely cooked pork collar (not too much fat) served with grinded chilli & peanuts we think. 🤔
Should have gone for the dumpling dish instead of these buns. Less quantity (in numbers) and we think the soup inside the bun is a bit much for us.
Not so surprised to find the whole plate filled with green & red chilli ! 🌶 Bring it on!!! 💪😁 A must order dish as we keep picking non-stop at the crispy chicken with our chopsticks. 🤤
Surprisingly good main dish here. Crunchy skin pancake with nicely flavoured onion filling. Wish we order more!
Stumble upon this restaurant as we notice the crowd while picking up our friends at the nearby hotel. Give it a try for this appetizer as all three of us want to be healthy. The black fungus was served with the clean soy sauce & wasabi. Not a big fan of this dish as the flavour is way too zen.
Joined in quite a queue at a Wanton Noodle / HK roast stall in Food republic (Top floor of 313 Somerset) and finally got the order after we went back with a receipt to retrieve the order. The stall has been quite chaotic with multiple staff on overlapping duties. The quantity of noodle and roasted duck / char siew are there but we got too many burnt bits. One sauce for Kai Lan & yellow noodle. Overall we doubt if we made the right choice to fix our duck crave. 🤔
Second dish for this trip with chilli theme going strong! 🌶 Didn’t have a chance to pick the noodle and we got this round white noodle with plenty of ingredients: carrot, kelp, mushroom and mock meat, tofu. The kelp has a unique cooling taste that contrast with the spicy hot broth 🤓
The overall flavour of this bowl is up to a personal taste bud. The staff is very friendly and good service. We might go back to try their hand pulled noodle.
Have been waiting to try this for some time. We drop by to the hidden food alley and give their 2 dishes a try. The chicken cumin filling is tasty & spicy! 🌶 Would this replace our burger fix? We have yet to make that call as we feel the white bread bun is quite similar to the pita bread.
Self order machine here is quite cumbersome. We end up placing ala carte order “hot & spicy wonton” (beef chives). Once finished ordering, we opted for counter payment. Then wait around 5 mins, the bowl looks really appetizing with free flow condiment like sliced fresh ginger. The bowl also comes with wooden spoon. The wonton is really nice in texture and well balanced with chilli oil. The portion is not filling though. Suggest go for noodle!!! 🍜
Quite excited initially to try their lunch set (their outlet in the Timbre +) as we think normally the dishes at XLX are catered to group diners. ($$$$) The spring onion fish slice rice $ 6.20 tastes alright with many ingredients (fish slices, ginger, carrot, onion with oyster sauce base). However, we find the main dish got an over-powering fishy smell going on and as such not manage to finish it. 🤔
The sides come in 2 bowls (curry veg & omelette pumpkin). Maybe skip the fish dish in this case.
A bit excessive to have the same “Forget me not rose longan tea pot” for each person but some likes it that way! 🤪
NB: Don’t forget to collect the voucher $20 to offset your bill next time ($60 min purchase) , appetiser (braised peanut)$2.60, 10% service charge and 7% GST applied. We paid around $60 after discount
