Rice Bowls
This place was bustling with the lunch crowd! It not only has pretty aesthetics but the food is pretty solid too. Despite the crowd the food came promptly. The pork belly was beautifully braised, meat was tender, and the fatty bits and skin melts in your mouth. Tastes really close to good lu rou bowls in Taiwan! Worth a try definitely!
Love Katanashi's lunch deals. For $12 you get a bowl of deliciousness and a nice view of boat quay. Negitoro was fresh and generous, and the spring onions add a nice bite when eaten together with the tuna.
Lunch set comes with soup and a steamed egg, which filled me up well!
Couldn't remember the name of this dish but definitely could remember the taste of it. The pork had a nice torched taste to it, and the rice was nicely moist with what I assume was pork gravy. It had a slightly sweet hint to it, but was full of flavour. Needless to say, no rice bowl is complete without an onsen egg. This is one of the more satisfying and good pork rice bowls I've eaten and I would come back for more.
Very beautiful presentation, tastes as good as it looks! But prices were a bit steep for me, given that I've tried much better chirashi bowls for better value! Still worth a try nonetheless!
This was the most amazing meal of my life, made more amazing by the entertainer app, and that I was treated to this for my birthday. This beats ANY bowl of beef don HANDS DOWN, and it is worth every single cent that you spend (eating 10 bowls of $10 beef dons don't give you such satisfaction). Everything goes well together in the bowl, and every mouthful is like a flavour explosion. The foie gras was seared perfectly, beef was nicely done, buttery uni and salty caviar elevating the flavour profile of the dish. Really worth trying once.
Add the ramen egg for additional $0.80! The ramen egg was the highlight of my rice bowl! Very flavourful with a semi runny yolk in it!
The mix of flavours in this bowl was amazing! Never thought Korean Mexican fusion would produce such a good result! Every mouthful contains a mix of sweetness, tangyness, saltiness. Also, it is super filling and definitely makes a work day better! I'm already looking forward to my next lunch break which I can have this again.
Oh and there's another outlet now at Raffles Place near golden shoe!
Hanare is teppei's sister chain, so the chirashi don is good as always, but I just didn't understand why they used hot rice in the bara chirashi bowl. I was a bit disappointed by that, but overall the sashimi pieces were still well marinated and the side dishes provided were decent.
The name pretty much explains the dish. But they revamped the classic Japanese curry and added a load more spices and secret things (I wish I knew!!) which gave the curry a whole new level of umami flavour, and makes me want to fork out $12.90 just so that I can taste the curry again. Try it!!
Nothing fabulous and nothing bad about this bowl of pork belly don. The egg was quite well executed though! The yolk was custard-like and you could take a bit of it to pair with every scoop of rice instead of frantically trying to catch all the yolk when you pierce other onsen eggs.
All time classic favourite combination of beef, truffle and runny egg never goes wrong. Always finding myself coming back to this place when I'm craving such a combination. The roasted garlic slices add a crunch and another depth of flavour!
