Restaurant Week

Only once choice for dessert - it was either that or coffee/tea. Being dinner time & as I'm caffeine sensitive, I opted for the chocolate lava cake. No regrets. Vanilla ice cream was nothing much to shout about, but went well (as it should) with the oozy chocolate & moist cake.

TLDR: Pasta ftw in a no-frills, casual dining environment. Service was a little slow, but nothing to be mad about. I had a great time catching up with my dining partner over some glasses of wine ☺️

While they have a pretty extensive pasta (& burrata, of course) menu at a good price point, I couldn’t pass up the Restaurant Week menu as it was quite a steal.

It’s been a busy month.. Burrata Joy & Gustavo Lapasta might likely be the only Restaurant Week place I’m dining at this season.

The Wildberries Fudge Brownie was also dry - drier than it looks. My dining partner & I struggled to finish this, not because we were super full already, but this was a really dry brownie. Vanilla ice cream was plain, nothing to shout about.

Overall, unfortunately disappointing. I'm just glad the appetizers & mains were much better.

I'd probably come back here again on a regular week - & just skip the desserts.

Unfortunately, the desserts we chose were both disappointing....

The Sticky Date Pudding was served with fig jam & rum toffee, neither of which were sufficient to salvage the dryness of the pudding itself alongside the coffee crumble bits. The coconut ice cream was the only saving grace, but this shouldn't be the highlight, really.

This photo really doesn't do the Sky22 Tiger Prawn Laksa Lemak any justice. It arrived as a hefty portion in a large bowl... & chilli paste is served on the side, which is great so you can customize how hot you want this to be.

Ingredients are fresh & plentiful - just look at that thicccccc tiger prawn. The usual suspects of dried bean curd & fish cake can be found inside as well. The only "difference" from tradition would be the use of quail eggs, which I find quite cute. & they were thankfully not overcooked with powdery yolks.

Overall, a good bowl of atas laksa.

The mains were the real stars of the night, & there are a good variety of options to choose from.

It's unusual for me to enjoy a chicken dish, as I eat it way too much in my meal prep + home-cooked meals growing up.... The Kampong Chicken Leg Confit surprised & impressed me.

The barley risotto texture was ON POINT, a delight in every bite. While it is creamy & thick, & has parmigiano-reggiano in it, I somehow didn't find it too surfeiting by the time I finished this dish (although it did fill me up). Probably balanced out by the tender chicken leg, juicy sliced mushrooms & baby spinach. An ace dish.

From the soups menu: Mushroom Soup - a creamy trio of button, swiss brown & oyster mushrooms. I found this a tad salty, but otherwise passable.

The only other option for soup was Soup of the Day, which was tomato soup on said day.. Which I almost never order at restaurants. So mushroom was the better choice, I reckon.

From the appetizers & salads menu, we ordered the Calamari Fritti. These had a crispy batter, & the calamari rings weren't overcooked, appreciably not rubbery on the inside. A surprisingly large portion for an appetizer, but I'm not complaining.

The sambal olek mayo isn't spicy at all; I would've loved for it to have some heat in it, but I understand how that might not be suitable for the masses, so it's alright.

For a restaurant that is located in a hotel (Courtyard Marriott in Novena, specifically), this space is comfortable - nothing too fancy or pretentious. Service was attentive & polite as well; I'd dine here again.

Diningcity's Restaurant Week is back, Spring edition runs from 7th - 30th April 2023. Checked out Sky22 to start, as I'd always passed by on my way up to the 33rd floor to have a drink at Las Palmas
